Disabled : wheelchair rental
by Piggy73
Can any one suggest companies that rent out wheelchairs to tourists. We looking to rent a manual wheelchair for 3 weeks. We're only looking for a basic chair as the person is able to walk a little bit.
We arrive/depart via CPT airport so something within that vicinity would be ideal or on route to Paarl which is our 1st stop, before heading off to family in George.
Are there any charitable organisations in S.A that rent out wheelchairs as we usually use "Red Cross"when in the UK - then at least our rental/donation goes back into the charity ?
I have e-mailed a few possibilities but so far have had no response :-( If we are really stuck it just means we will have to transport one with us.

Havn't heard of charitable organisations doing rentals.

Travel Tips for Cape Town
Just Nuisanse
by mvtouring
"Just Nuisance", was sold to a Benjamin Chaney who moved to Simon's Town to run the United Services Institute (USI). The USI was frequented mainly by the Royal Navy sailors - The Royal Navy at that time being in charge of the Simon's Town Naval Base. This Great Dane soon grew to be a massive dog and it was here in Simon's Town that he was to become a legend.
Hermanus
by kngtut
Hermanus is about an hour from Cape Town, but well worth the drive. In August - October it is famous for the whales that descend on its shores. It also has numerous wonderful shops and restauarants. Accommodation ranges from 5* to cosy bed & breakfasts. The local tidal pool is a great place for a safe dip in the ocean. The nearby Hamilton Russell Winefarm is a good choice for superb wine tasting and buying. Get friendly with a local and they will tell u the ins and outs.
Personal Services/Wine
by thinking
Getting a personal trainer, taking dance classes, yoga classes, getting dermatological services, facials, massages, all cost less than 2/3's of what is costs in Manhattan.
So here is the place to shop to come for these services. Food is
also very good and not much more and often quite a bit less than $10 per person.
It is also a great place to shop for South African wines.
They are very good. And it is wonderful to be able to
eat out and receive very good food at reasonable prices.
It is impossible to do that in Manhattan. Dance Classes ....approx $5.00 per class
Yoga Class...........aprrox. $5.00 per class
Facial/galvanic machine. Environ treatment center $20
Pilates(private) $20.00 an hour

By adapted truck-bus. this was a very comfortable way of travelling especially on the dirt roads, and also a great view with the big side windows.
