A nice hotel with a great location
The Victoria and Alfred Hotel is an upscale hotel located in the heart of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, an upscale shopping and dining area on Cape Town's waterfront. It is a 4* in terms of rooms and facilities. The rooms were fairly large and comfortable, with marble bathrooms. The lobby was small, but the staff at the front desk was friendly and helpful. The restaurant had a very good breakfast buffet that was included in our room price.
The best thing about the hotel was its excellent location in the heart of the V&A Waterfront complex. It was less than 100 meters away from a number of good restaurants and shops. We liked not having to wander to far to find a good meal after being out all day sightseeing.
The hotel has a small parking lot if you have a rental car. We found this to be a very good amenity.

Fantastic Unbeatable Location
This is an upmarket 5-star hotel located in the heart of the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. It is attached to the Alfred Shopping Mall, the smaller but higher-end boutique shops. The Alfred shopping mall is near to the Clock Tower Mall in the Waterfront.
The service provided by the hotel staff is quick and excellent. I guess it is true what they say: You get what you paid for. If you paid for luxury, you get excellent impeckable service. Yet I have one small complain - with the high price I paid to stay in this 5-star hotel, I didn't even get free one-hour internet access.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this Waterfront Hotel very much as we felt we were pampered and made very comfortable. But for my next visit to Cape Town, I rather stay in other less expensive hotels around the V&A Waterfront area !!
Unique Quality: Large and beautifully furnished double-size room. Large bathroom with separate shower stall and modern bathtub. Separate toilet (good for couples). Free coffee (filtered kind - wow) and tea (a few choices) with water boiler. Everyday, you get one free (but small) bottle of sparkling wine and two bottles of mineral water. Large closet space for clothes and a room safe. Nice fluffy towels and bathrobes. Large double-size firm mattress with lots of pillows (I love these). Big flat screen TV by the corner. Large windows that can be opened to let fresh air in. Table and chairs. A few nice cosy lightings and nice wall pictures.
The hotel also has a 5-star restaurant that serves excellent dinner cuisines and big selections for breakfasts. There is also a nice bar near this restarant where you can relax in the evenings. The restaurant also has a fantastic view of the wharf and the Table Mountain. In the morning, we had our breakfasts while watching the activities by the wharf and seeing the clouds covering the Table Mountain.
Just one small complain about the buffet breakfast; I'd have to pay extra for warm food (fried eggs, omellette, bacons, sausages, potatoes, etc.) - in other restaurants I've stayed so far, these were included in the buffet price. In any case, the buffet selection was so huge that I didn't miss the warm food at all.
The V&A Waterfront Hotel is located within the Alfred Mall and the Cape Town Waterfront. Fantastic shopping!

fantastic view
even at night.
The V&A has great big nice rooms, a modern cool bar, boardwalk table and top breakfasts.
This was one of the best lodging experiences I've had--the staff are fabulous, the food is good, and the rooms are great. If you get a room facing the harbor, you wake up to a view of Table mountain. Try leaving your window open at night and you can fall asleep listening to the Cape Fur Seals barking.

"Cows for sale!?"
Copying a foreign custom, local artists paint pictures on statues of cows (the person at the information office said cows are easier to handle than bulls....) and then they sell these painted statues to collect money for charities.
The Victoria & Alfred hotel is the building on the right.
