Be Warned

Terrible (1.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on June 22, 2012

We were booked for a few days at the Knysna Terrace for a romantic get away (Pics on their website very misleading). A key was left in the safe as we were going to arrive very late which I thought was awesome however after so many hours of driving and being tired; when we got there the safe would not open and was jammed :(. The host finally woke up and made it clear that he was bothered by our presence. When we got to our room it was very neat and well decorated and that was the only good thing I can say about the Terrace. Every other experience with our days there was terrible, The host treated our presence like a burden and nuisance. Complained if we came to breakfast 30 before the kitchen closes as she had to make the hot breakfast and had no cook on staff. If we left the room after a certain time during the afternoon we’d come back only to find that the room was not cleaned!!! Apparently the cleaner only works till a certain time and we have to fit our schedule with her cleaning time by being out of the room by a certain time. We only received a towel change once during our 5 day stay. When the host noticed that we served the internet on our first morning in the designated area; we found it switched off the next day (clear do not use any more hint). While in the eating area they would come in with their pesky dogs who would bother us during breakfast. The dogs was also allowed in the kitchen. The old hosts, Linda and JP, seemed a cold miserably married couple and seem to hate the idea of happy loving couples at the hotel. They treated us like we are unwelcome trespassers in their house forgetting that they are employees of the hotel and we their fully paying guest. And made us feel like dirty people... on our romantic get away if you know what I mean:( (alot can be said with subtle comments/vibes and body language). Our contact with them in Knysna left us wondering whether they had a problem with us, our colour or whether they generally just have problems with everything. The lasting impression for me though is that maybe Knysna as a whole is not such an open minded society in our Multi Racial/Lingual Country :(. Busy planning our next holiday and worried what type of hosts will receive us as this was one traumatising horror movie experience of hosts. They were old creepy people and I'm glad we made it in one piece!

Unique Quality: Pool - Not maintained and had bugs and leaves in.
Bar - Empty
View - Obscured by MAIN HIGHway to Knysna. Traffic noise. The pictures on their website does not reflect it to be so.
