Travelling down from Cape Town to Knysna and Plettenberg Bay and wondering how long it will take to drive. Planning to use the N2.

I have driven Cape Town airport to Knysna in 3 hours, but there are a lot more speed traps these days....
If you stop for a coffee, a meal, fuel, then from central Cape Town to Knysna is about 5-6 hours and to Plet is a half hour more.
A bit of low flying Gerald. 5 hours sounds a bit better. We drove it once from Cape Town to Mossel Bay and that took more than 3 hours.

Yikes Gerald.. you driving a Porsche down that road... I guess it is more then 5 to 6 hours to Knysna - another 20 minutes or so to Plett.
Be carefull in the area of Swellendam - always speed traps and anywhere close to larger towns.. however you don't want to fly down that road in any case.. stop at Cape Aghulas the most southern tip of Africa... or Mossel Bay... the town where the first "postal service" occured during the Portuguese Explorations, or George the main town along the Garden Route...
This Cafe has an outside section overlooking the Knysna Heads so the view is fantstic.
The food was tasty, I had a chicken salad which was a good size
Unfortunately service was quite slow & the staff are quite young & relaxed
To visit this restaurant you will need to pay for the parking so do not forget or you may end up with a fine.

We reached Knysna by taking the Outeniqua Choo Choo steam train from George which is about a 3 hour journey. The ride offers great scenery and passes right by the ocean and over the famous arch bridge at Kaaimans River.
Tickets can be bought on the day at the station and cost 75 rand single and 90 rand return. There are two departures from Knysna at 9.45am and 2.15pm and from George at 9.30am and 2pm.
