Travel Tips for Knysna

BRENTON

by PEE-WEE

From the road to the seaside resort of Brenton are spectacular views of the Knysna Lagoon and hill slopes rich in wild flowers.

The resort is noted for its fishing.

On the beach are a caravan park and hotel.

Noetzie Beach

by jo104

Noetzie Beach is a stunning secluded beach famous for its castles which are available to stay in. The Noetzie river forms a pretty lagoon
Probably one of the reasons it is so secluded is to get there is approx 5km dirt road drive then about 100+ steps down to the beach & the climb back up is steep!!

Swartberg Moutain Pass

by cokes

Well I was driving from Beaufort Wes to Oudtshoorn. The road is all hot and dry bush with a couple of tortoses in the road and all of the sudden you see these stunning mountains ahead. This is really the most beautiful mountain pass road that I ever driven on. There is place on the mountain pass whereby you can stop as they have a waterfall there that you can go and have a look at or maybe go have a swim. Its the only place here with a new building there and place to stop. The temperature was nice and cool compared to the heat of the karoo. Its close to Oudtshoorn and definitely a mountain pass that you would wanna see.

Knysna

by pmarshuk

Knysna is a very pleasant town along the Garden route and is definitely a must to visit. The town is located alongside a large lagoon accessed from the ocean by a narrow opening called the Heads. The lagoon is home to some oyster farms - a trip to see them is well worthwhile and the oysters farmed here are enormous.
The tourist area of the town is split into two areas, the main street a little back from the lagoon and the quays, which have been developed with some nice bars, restaurants and shops. There is one shop down here (34' South) that stocks the most wonderful selection of South African food and wine. The picture shows a view of Knysna from across the lagoon
