Victoriana in the Klein Karoo

We found service in B&Bs, inns, and guest houses throughout the Western Cape to be first-rate. The Adley House provided great breakfasts, a mini-fridge, no fewer than two electric tea kettles, and a huge, marble-lined bath. Considering the price -- around $35 a night as I recall -- this was absolutely GREAT value for money! Highly recommended.

Unique Quality: The garden with its small pool was very lush when we were there. Lots of flowers, shrubs, and trees with plenty of birds around as well. The people who ran it were as accommodating as you could ask for, always willing to chat and to make recommendations about what to see and do in the district.

Adley House

Build in 1905 during the "Ostrich Feather Boom" by Sidney Herbert Adley. This magnificent Victorian Home with its large gardens and pools became a Guest House in 1994. It is owned and managed by Pieter and Hilda Retief and daughters in true South African style. A retreat for you to enjoy! .
