Moyos at Speiers

I understand I need to make reservations in advance to have lunch in the treehouse. How do I do that from the United States?

I would stay far away from Moyo after one awful dinner there. Bad food, bad service, bad attitude. Very fake, "theme park".

Hi- I have had wonderful experiences at moyo- I have been for lunch - which can be hot -the evenings are awesome - fires burning and it has a great atmosphere - I am sure that you could call them to reserve a tree house I will attempt to get the number for you....

I've never been to Moyo at Spier (I assume it must be Spier) but the one at Zoo lake is great. The food was excellent. Gary loved the breakfast buffet and at R115 it was not too expensive. He went for seconds a few times. Management can make a big difference.

The Zoo Lake Moyo branch is well known as a superb restaurant, as already said, management make s a huge difference!

I have been to Spier's Moyo... and although it looks lovely with heavy ties on curtained-off areas etc. to create privacy, it is very trying-to-be-african-themepark-ish, and not a typical South African experience in my opinion. It's very 'put on'.

It is commercialised (even having a shop attached to the restaurant). I did like the shop, as they have some great crafty things made by locals, but prices are steep!.

A bubbly version!!!

I have read a little bit about JC le Roux's Cap Classique . According to the lady in the tasting area they are not allowed to use the word champagne but the process they use and the taste is the same. I know what they taste like now and maybe I have no style ( that's fine with me) but I prefer the cheaper sparkling wines.

A very beautiful farm with friendly and helpful staff. R20 per person to taste 6 ,( 4 cap classique and 2 sparkling wines) . For each tasting they pour about half a glass. So make sure you eat something before the time and take it slowly. You can just take a few sips and empty the glass in the container provided for that. Gary did it a few times. If he doesn't like something he knows immediately. I kept on trying until the glass was empty. Don't like wasting.

Well worth a visit if you like bubbly.
