Down by the riverside
Easter and school holidays meant we couldn't book another night in the partk itself at Kruger, so we did the next best thing and stayed at the Protea Hotel just outside the Paul Kruger Gate. It was very nice - set in lovely gardens, with big, comfortable rooms, good service, an excellent buffet dinner included in the tarriff and a yummy breakfast ( great curried vegetables amongst a table groaning with goodies) both served in the attractive restaurant which has a huge deck area for eating under the stars .
We were only staying overnight so really weren't bothered with all the other facilities the hotel has to offer -golf, swimming, game rides and walks, etc - but they are all there so check the website.
Some rooms are set up for people with disabilities. Walkways through the gardens lead down to the Treehouse bar where you can sit high over the river and watch for game - hippo were playing about when we were there enjoying a long sundowner.
