Hi, We are a family of 4 visiting Jo´Burg for world Cup and staying out at Sun Cty 4 nights, so out of the 30 odd restaurants at this complex, r there any decent family restaurants?? We r staying at Cascades with breakfast included for wife and I but, strangely, not included for our 2 boys????

Most of the restaurants can be classed as for "families". I cannot think of one that will not allow your children to eat there.
The typical situation is that children under 12 stay for free when they share their parent's room, but they do not get free breakfast.
Suncity 's Cascades Hotel offers two superb restaurants. The Peninsula
Hi
The Santorini Restaurant is quite casual, and ideal for family meals. It serves Meditarranean type food, and service is good.
For more formal dining, try the Peninsula- candles, flowers and excellent food.
These two are both within Cascades Hotel. You could, of course, try any of the others- but can;t go too wrong with above choices.
With the world cup on, there are many restaurants where you can dine out in Sun City. The best ones are JB's Family Restaurant, Lovin Touch Restaurant and Benny's Burgers and BBQ for barbecue fans. If you all want to eat out then JB's Family Restaurant is highly recommended. It is excellent for breakfast in Sun City and the kids will really enjoy the mouth watering dishes.
Have just been there for a week middle of June with the family - however we stay at the Vacation Club timeshare. Most notably everything seems to be way more expensive than previous years.
Regarding breakfast, you will just need to pay for your boys breakfast at Cascades, not sure of the cost, but for example the breakfast at the Sun City Hotel (one level down) for adults = R170 each and children R120 (think that was 12 and under) so probably another R10 or so more for Cascades buffet breakfast. Don't get me wrong their breakfasts are great and you could spend a a couple of hours eating, but it's very costly.
Regarding family restaurants, most are family restaurants - other than the gambling floor and night club areas, it's all family areas. If you want a cheaper option with variety then pop upstairs in the Sun City Entertainment centre / Welcome centre to where the Food Court is.....there are a number of fast food type outlets and you can buy from various ones and then sit together.
Kamp Kwena for the kids have daily activities, but be aware they charge R85 for a couple of hours (3 sessions per day) - so choose time of day and activities that you are willing to pay for carefully.
Will have to admit we did spend money on the "Water balls" at the Valley of Waves = R30 for 5 minutes. We had a ton of fun.
Have fun and don't gamble all your money away! Including not on the kids games....my favourite part of Sun City.
We took our 8-year old daughter to the Santorini restaurant and had a great meal. The one restaurant in SUn CIty that didn't seem kid-friendly was the fancy one at the Lost City hotel. It was formal and pricy.
When I think of Africa my mind has a vision of wild animals in open space and not confined to being behind bars in a local zoo.
My dream came true when we had 4 days at Sun City Resort and took a late afternoon safari into the Pilanesberg National Park. The photos you see are some of the wild animals we saw during our 3 hour journey through the park.

Yes. you might think I am meaning watching the pretty lasses on the beach in the Valley of the Waves, but I am talking of the feathered variety :)
The wild bird life here is simply amazing. You CANNOT come here sans your camera!!!!
I particularly like the aviary area, it’s not huge but there is a decent array of birds there. I far prefer seeing birds in their natural habitat though.

I will show this Map in 3 Tips because the print is too small to read. The memories of Sun City are enormous , and I wish we had more time to see the whole Sun City , it is like a small City.
Most outstanding memory is the incredible beautiful Palace Hotel ,with the awsome Fountain in front of the Hotel and an awsome sculpture display that features two Cheetahs chasing bucks (antelopes) animals were life size and made of Bronze. We were not allowed to go inside the Hotel because we were no guest there.Also the Casino , and te Valley water park with its wave pool.Some day we love to go back there.
Well if you head for the Valley of the Waves don`t dispair as you can rent anything from a towel , locker and the tubes for the tube rides and for the roaring lagoon. You can`t miss it as its situated next to the Toilets and Change Roooms and they have a small arcade centre on the right hand side.
