I stayed at the Authentique French Quest House when I was unable to get accomodation at Sun City for the weekend I wanted to go. Well I have to say that the price for the accomoation was really good. They have various rondavels there to choose from and the price varies for everyone according to what accomodation you looking for. The owners of the place was really great people and very helpful and the breafast was very nice.
This place is situated about 30KM from Sun City and they have alot to offer which is great. So if you on a tight budget and looking for reasonable priced accomodation instead of staying at Sun City this surely the place to book.
The only thing I didn`t like is that the place is situated 3km off the main road and you had to drive on a sand road to get there. Other than that I was completely satisfied with my stay there.
They offer alot of activities that you can do and book from them at prices alot less than what you would pay if you booked it at Sun City.
We stayed at the Sun City Cabanas and found it to be excellent.

The Vacation club is located next door to the Palace Hotel and has lovely views overlooking the Pilanesberg National Park and the Gary Player Golf Course. The Vacation Club is basically a resort of apartments and villas. It has it's own supermarket, restaurant, cafe and lovely swimming pool.
These apartments/ villas are usually rented out on a weekly basis 7 days. However, we did not stay 7 days only 5 and we still paid the full weekly rate but it didn't concern us, as it worked out much cheaper than if we had stayed 5 days in any of the other hotels within Sun City. These apartments offer incredible value and are of excellent standard. I highly recommend them if you happen to be traveling with your family.
Our villa to our pleasure was a lovely spacious, modern apartment with two bedrooms, two large bathrooms, lounge, dining room with sliding doors opening up to a large undercover patio with a large dining table and BBQ overlooking the Pilansberg Park.
We have stayed at most of the hotels within the Sun City Resort due to our previous visits to South Africa. I would certainly stay at the Vacation Club again, as to me the villa's are a home away from home offering all the modern facilities and incredible value.
Large spacious apartments.
This camp is highly recommended. It is not fancy, but is very comfortable and well run. The accommodation was better than we had expected to be honest.
There was an open plan living and kitchen area, a bathroom downstairs - an ensuite for the main bedroom there, plus another bathroom, which catered for the third bedroom at the top of the stairs. This is also open plan, and looks down into the living and kitchen area.
There is a lovely porch area, with tables and chairs, and a braai area.
It has a covered car park area, with designated parking for your particular bungalow. There are childrens swings, slides etc. in a park close by, as well as a huge swimming pool.
The main pool is really big... and there's a smaller (although big!) heated children's pool next to it. We found we were flitting backward and forward between them both, having a 2 year old with us :)
This camp lies by Bagathla Gate, an entrance into Pilansberg Game Park.
The sundown Ranch is a 3 * hotel that also have budget chalets, with a basic pool, its got a Lion Park, only about 8-10km from Sun City and Pilanesberg, please know the chalets are just basic! price about R280 for 2 ppl as (2007)
Phone the hotel number and ask for the chalets, then place your booking.
A cheap place close to Pilanesberg and Sun City for those who dont want Expensive accom.
There is a restaurant at the hotel, The hotel can arrange all various wild life tours ( but they are quite expensive) you can drive with your own car through Pilanesberg.
This stay was wonderful, they have transport to Sun City and Lost City, They have hides where you can watch wild life, and they have safari tours into the Pilanesberg game park
everything is outstanding, rooms were good and food was good.
In my final year of Technikon, my whole year decided to go away for a –end-of-year celebration. Pilansberg was chosen!
This was my first time in this particular park. We camped and braaied (BBQ), and played guitars and had a ball.
A couple of my friends also went hot-air ballooning for two hours (lucky them!) I couldn’t go as it cost a lot. It is still a dream of mine to do this.
The campsite was fine, basic amenities (braai area/showers, baths and loos etc.). No problem whatsoever.
They also have other accommodation which is a lot more luxurious. Many stay in the five star Bakubung Lodge or Kwa Maritane Lodge. They are world class and cater for your every need.
Both of these lodges were clients of mine when I had my business in Cape Town, I supplied them with Christmas crackers, gifts for their guests etc. All ethnic and African-flavoured with little wooden animals with folk-lores attached inside.
If the Palace is out of your budget or simply not your style, there are other alternatives namely the Cascades, the Sun City Hotel and the Cabanas to choose from
Comfortable and more affordable than the Palace
