there are alots of places to stay in upington but if i m going again i will go back to this small backpacker again becuz it was second cheapest option all other places mostly located just outside city on river bank are very expensive… nothing was less than 220 rands… its very near to the centre and affordable (60 rands per bed) they have one big room which has 10 beds… in fact they are a house based backpacker… this room which they very nicely converted into dormitory was most probably a double garage and than they extended and made kitchen and shower and toilet… there is a braii place and swimming pool (not clean) and grassy lawn behind the pool so camping is also possible if they allow… i m giving the details becuz this was not mentioned in upington tourist information brochure so may be if anyone wants to stay in future.. name of the owner was Anina Jordaan and address: yebo backpackers, 21 Morant street in fact it’s the corner of Morant and Hertzoc streets… her cell: 083 825 1643 and home: 054 331 2496 and email: yebo@lantic.net or else the most cheapest option is camping at the island resort on the other side of river… it was 52 rands per camp…
