2 hotels, same price, but utterly different!
OK, the first place we stayed in was a place recommended by our taxi driver (I forget the name)...we'd asked for cheap, and cheap was supposedly what we got. For what we did get though, we felt it was overpriced...a bare room with an unlockable door, a smelly outdoor toilet, and a male only freezing cold shower. A female friend who was with me was unable to use the shower because it had a window at chest height looking straight onto the street!!! The owner was friendly enough, but after two days, we decided our money was better spent elsewhere. Just down the road in fact was the Hotel Qasr ash-Sharq, where, for the same price, we were given a private carpeted room with a key, fresh bed sheets, and the bathroom facilities, while not spotless, were much more private and a hell of a lot cleaner than the first place.
Unique Quality: Both places cost about SD500, which is about two American dollars.
