Little Asia Hotel and Restaurant: Little Asia
I did not stay here, but did have dinner one evening. It belongs to the guy that runs "Little Asia" restaurant in Khartoum and the food is just the same. Nice juices.

Airport Hotel: It's got fans and aircon
So we were politely told on arrival that since it was Ramadan we would not be served any food. This kind of sucked since we were being charged US$90/night which was to include b/fast. Fortunately we'd been in Khartoum for a few days prior, where we had received food (even though it was Ramadan in KRT too) So I kicked up a fuss and threatened to leave, whereafter we were politely and apologetically served dinner and breakfast every day.
Ok the food was not a big deal, but it's amazing how a simple cup of coffee, a few pita breads and some laughing cow cheese can get your morale back up in a depressing town like Nyala.
Unique Quality: Unique? well it was clean, no dust. Un-unique but more importantly the hotel has a genny, there's aircon and fan in each room and a fridge that you can stick your head into if the above two aren't managing to cope.

Marsland Aviation Guest House: Guest houses in Nyala
I'm updating this tip because there are now hotels in Nyala, when this tip was originally written there were none.
2 years back I stayed at a very secure house owned by Marsland Aviation (they accommodate their pilots their) they'll rent the entire 8 sleeper house to you for about US$350 per day. It has electricity, beds, fridge, satellite TV and aircon.
If you can't afford the price why not call them anyway and see if you can share the house, or if they can find somewhere else for you at a cheaper rate.

If this doesn't work call Marco of 5m Car hire in Khartoum he is well contacted and like most expat/Sudanese very friendly and helpful (if you hire your Khartoum car from him) will probably fall over himself to help you whether it be accommodation in Nyala, El Geneina or al Fashir.
