Laconda Kadugli

Security will take you to an un-named laconda on the main street, which seems to be the only place to stay in the town. The laconda consists of large rooms filled with beds, and is mainly aimed at local men. However, a khawaja man and woman can be made exceptions, and the friendly owner rearranged beds to provide us with a secure room to ourselves.

Unique Quality: The owner was extremely friendly...arriving late at night feeling rather hungry, we asked if he could direct us to a local restaurant. Not only did he take us there, but he ordered food for us and refused to let us pay! The next day, he brought juices and water to our room for breakfast, and every day he helped us with our questions about Kadugli. On leaving, he sent a walad to help us find a seat on a bus, then cycled down to the bus station to check that we hadn't been overcharged. If only all hotel owners could be like him!
