Superb hotel with lovely themed restaurants & two swimming pools.
The service was very good & the boutiques had very good selections of souvenirs.
Location was ideal to head out into the city centre to try local delicacies in the evening.
Unique Quality: Views from our 10th floor suite were stunning & far-reaching.
It was handy though unusual for a place to have an indoor swimming pool & an outdoor one! The outdoor one was massive, great for swimming laps!!
This place had recently been bought out by Accor Hotels, hence the name Novotel. As a result, by the time we arrived, a lot of new furnishings were in place, though we were told still a lot more changes, refurbishments & alterations were planned.
Directions: Off the main road
The Mt Meru hotel probably would have seemed perfectly fine if we had started out trip here. Instead, we stayed here on the last night of our stay, which happened to be immediately following two incredible safari hotels.
Apparently, Bill Clinton stayed in the Mt Meru Hotel during his trip to Tanzania. As far was we can tell, the place has only gone downhill since then. The rooms were plain and not especially well kept. The food was okay, but the service was much too slow given that there were only three parties eating.
Unique Quality: Since our stay was included in our safari fee, we're not really sure what the rates were.
