Arusha, hotel with a ltalian touch
by sachara about Hotel Mezza Luna
After an incredible taxiride along bushpaths around Arusha of more than two hour, we found rooms in this lovely hotel. Due to an international meeting all the main roads in Arusha were blocked. We had to change taxis because of technical troubles, we run out of gasoline in the absolutely dark in the middle of nowhere between the bananatrees and back in town most hotels were full. We were so happy, that Javet our Tanzanian driver of our truck accompanied us during all those adventures in the taxi.
At 11 pm finally we had the keys of our rooms and were sitting in the lovely garden of the hotel, listening to African life music, drinking beer, fruit juice and eating a delicious pizza. The hotel and restaurant is managed by an older Italian lady. The garden is lovely and the Italian restaurant is great. During the weekend many Tanzanian families came to the garden eating pizzas or just for a drink. Every evening there was life music, but we saw also acrobatics for the kids.

Arusha is an ideal place to stay if you want to be surrounded by some of Africa's most famous spectacles of our Earth. It sits nestled at the skirts of Mt Meru and to the east of the Great Rift Valley, it is close to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park and Mount Kilimanjaro
The temperature in Arusha is lovely, it has wet and dry seasons...it is an amazing city as if you head north you will be going uphill and head south, you of course will be going downhill.
Arusha became a city in 2006.
With it's very plush Arusha Hotel and it's many shops and markets and food outlets, Arusha is a bustiling city.

Arusha hotel

Hi,
we will be staying 2 nights in Arusha: 1 before and 1 after our safari.
We are not sure which one to pick: Arusha Crown hotel or Impala hotel.
The guide books give good reviews for the Impala Hotel,, but most of the review on Tripadvisor are rather negative, which makes me doubtful about the Impala hotel.
Anybody has experience with either hotel?
Thanks for your help
Looking forward to our safari next week:-)

Hi too, good to plan a visit in Arusha"Geneva of Africa",well both the two hotels cool, but more big up to Impala Hotel,is more classic and standard than Arusha crown, moreover crown is located at the heart of city so experience disturbance of the city.
A bit Impala is located in cooler place
