Moevenpick Royal Palm Hotel Dar es Salaam: I would avoid this place

We hated this hotel. It is quite large and impersonal, and the staff are mostly indifferent. Although it states it has more than 1 restaurant, only one was open. It is difficult to find your way around, the bar has no atmosphere and neither has anything else. The rooms are average.
The only saving grace was the waiter in the buffet restaurant (the only one open). He was nice and helpful and cheerful.

I was also recommended to stay at Moevenpick Hotel in Ohio street. So I checked the hotel just to be sure it was a good recommendation. It is a 4 star hotel with a big outdoor swimmingpool. And a high class atmosphere. The price for a room was too high for me.
This is used to be the Sheraton, one of DSM oldest hotels. it is rated as a 5* hotel, which is ok for Tanzania standards. rooms are nice but nothing wow ( well except the executive suite which i entered .. big WOW ). try the Kibo bar (live music) and the outdoor restaurant is very nice. It's not directly located on the beach, but has a nice view of the indian ocean.
