Kudo Lodge Karatu: Camping and Lodges.... Just before Ngorongoro

Kudo is a beautiful propoerty in the town of Karatu (the last town before Ngorongoro COnservation Area). Surrounded by trees, flowerbeds, and thousands of birds.... a nigh stay here is worth to experience. It is approximately 2Kms from the main road through Karatu. The famous National Parks of Northern Tanzania, among them The Serengeti, Lake Manyara, and The Ngorongoro Crater are not far from here.

The food was very good and breakfast was delicious. They also make picnic packs for safari.

Impala Hotel Arusha: A good one

In Arusha, we stayed at Impala Hotel. It gives colonial look with heavy wooden furniture and nice swimming pool. There are many resturants including Chinese, Indian, Continental and Italian. The resturants are popular amoing locals as well. the breakfast was nice with fresh tropical fruits and some local dishes. There is a also an Ethiopian resturant nearby.

From the top floor you can have excellent view of Mount Meru and the city of Arusha

Bristol Cottages: little green oasis with kili view from roof terrac

Bristol cottages is very close to the city centre of Moshi in a side road. Thanks to the big garden, the place is a green oasis and very quiet if you just want to chill out, yet it is never far to the market, restaurants or the bus station. You can choose between a room in the main building, or opt for the more expensive cottages in the garden area. The rooms are not luxurious, but clean and convenient. The food selection in the restaurant is not too overwhelming, but should be sufficient to keep you happy and fed. Good samosas!

From the roof terrace you have a good view of the Kilimanjaro summit - at least in the mornings and evenings, when the clouds are gone

Stop-Over Hotel - Pangani

This is a small very cheap hotel near the Seaside Community Center on the seaside road with very friendly staff and a restaurant. Rooms with bathroom, mosquito net and ceiling fan are only 5 euros but are not of good quality. They are very hot, and the bathroom plumbery is in bad condition. You can not expect much though at such low prices...
Food can be prepared at the attached restaurant on request, costing about 2 euros for a whole meal.

Seaside Community Center Hostel – Pangani

The hotel is located on the seashore of Pangani with fresh breeze blowing all day.
Rooms are comfortable with good beds and private bathroom and hot water. They cost about 20$ per person with free breakfast. Negotiate!
There is a beautiful small camping site on the premises, in front of the sea, in the shade of the trees, enjoying refreshing sea breezes.
The food in the restaurant is very good and the staff is very friendly.
I spent a lot of time in the resting places in the garden where there are shady gazebos perfect for an evening drink, for reading your favorite book, and watching the local kids splashing happily in the water.

Jambo Brothers Beach Bungalows - Nunguy - Zanzibar

Jumbo Brothers is the cheapest accommodation right on the famous beach of Nunguy.
I paid about 15 euro after negotiation for a room with private bathroom. The room was pleasant with a good bed and a blue mosquito net.
However cockroaches are silently present if you look closer....
The restaurant serves relatively cheap food of ambiguous quality and it has no views. Breakfast is free.
The breakfast table is the most interesting feature as guests meet and have a chance to exchange ideas in a friendly and unpretentious atmosphere.

JUMBO INN - Dar Es Salam

A very popular hotel in the center of Dar Es Salam.
The most striking feature is the wonderfully painted walls even the ceilings and the doors. This way it gives you the sensation of sleeping in a fine countryside spot rather than in a busy city. Very clever idea!!!
There are rooms with fans or air conditioning. Prices are about $20 for singles, $25 for doubles and $35 for double deluxe. All rooms have private bathrooms and mosquito nets. There is also Wifi in all rooms but it is charged. Free continental breakfast is included in the price. Staff is very efficient and polite. There is storage facility available. Hot water from 6.00-8.00 am and upon request at any other time.
A generator is switched on during power cuts.
The restaurant is downstairs serving over 250 dishes of vegetarian or non vegetarian dishes. Local, Indian, Pakistani, Chinese, continental, BBQ, and exotic food. The prices have gone up recently and side dishes, such as rice or bread are heavily charged, something that is not common at all in Africa. So the meals come to 7 euros or maybe more. That is the problem of Indian owners in Africa. They are very stingy....
A mini market and an Internet cafe are attached.

Safari Inn – Dar Es Salam

A popular guest house in the heart of Dar es Salam. The rooms are basic with no mosquito nets. The woman at the reception was really insulting and the atmosphere was a little depressing. The guests, mostly Indians, were very noisy and impolite.
