Mountain Inn: Best place for kilimanjaro climb
Stayed the night before and night after a Kilimanjaro climb which was included in our great price. Place had a swimming pool but we didnt use it. Massage service was unbelieveble after the trek and food was amazing. Rooms are basic but very clean and have fans. Location is abit far from the town but only a 5 minute taxi ride. Management are all very friendly. Definitely recommend just for the food, price and cause it comes with a great priced climb.
Unique Quality: Artwork around swimming pool
Can see the mountain from certain parts on a clear day
Staff are very helpful

The Kibo Hotel: An Historic Choice
With only 35 rooms, this is the oldest hotel in the region and carries a long legacy of outfitting Kilamajaro trekkers.
Professor Hans Meyer, from Leipzig Germany was the first European to scale Mount Kilimanjaro in 1889 and this hotel is where Prof. Hans Meyer and his crew stayed during their historical climbing expedition.
The wonderful old establihsment was run -- as lately as 10 years ago -- by an old German woman who might well have been a descendent of the original owners.
The rooms are modest, as are the common rooms. However everything was clean and perfectly comfortable -- particualrly as compared to what would follow in the coming days on the mountain!
Unique Quality: A large black and white portrait of Hans Meyer hangs at the Kibo Hotel lobby, together with that of Yohana Lauwo, his first guide. The Hotel with 35 rooms, is over 120 years old now. It was first built by a German family in Association with the powerful charismatic Chagga leader, Chief (Mangi) Marealle.
When we climbed, a great feature of the hotel was that they provided pre-climb briefings in the lobby and would actually assist in arranging your porters, should they be requried (and we did!). The briefing was colorful and loaded with history, as well as being quite useful.

KIA lodge: KIA lodge
KIA lodge is just a short drive, outside the airport terminal.
We had a long wait for flight back to Nairobi- so we got sent here to chill for the day. I was pretty impressed...
Unique Quality: A wonderful option if it suits your needs. Though its a bit far from Arusha town. If you are looking to climb Kilimanjaro, or similar treks, this may be an ideal spot.
Wonderful views and very tasteful/ ethnic decor etc, complete with a pool which has great views of the big mountain...
