Lounge and Bar area @Seronera Wildlife Lodge by jackfruit Nice safari lodge located inside the Serengeti National Park in the township of Seronera. Beautiful stone and wood architecture. Spacious bedrooms and very clean bathrooms with bathtubs. Hairdryer hookups available (hotel will provide hairdryer and/or adapter if needed). Breakfast and dinner are buffet style, and lunch can be packed at the hotel before you start your early morning game drive. No balconies because of the proximity to dangerous wildlife. All windows are mosquito netted.
If you are lucky, you can view lots of wildlife from your hotel room window. We saw plenty of impala frolicking at dusk just outside our room. Hotel also screens movies in the lounge area after dinner. We saw a wonderful and informative documentary on the Serengeti Cheetah. The hotel also has tribal dance shows a few times a week. Hot air baloon safaris can be arranged through the hotel desk. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Serengeti Natl Park, Tanzania

by PEE-WEE Built into the rim of a dormant volcano, the plant and ivy-covered stone of the lodge blends into the surroundings. The volcano and surrounding landscape are part of a vast conservation area inhabited by the Maasai tribe. Most guest-rooms have private terraces, which have spectacular views of the crater floor. Activities include tours of the crater floor, excursions to the nearby Olduvai Gorge, the 'birthplace of mankind', Maasai dancing and choir performances. Theme: Other

Seronera is a well organized camp site in the bush, with a house for cooking and dining. We were alone there, and had a nice, quiet evening. That is, we thought we were alone. The next morning we met our next door neighbours! We were told that lions don't like the smell of humans and avoid us if they can. The wind must have been blowing in the wrong direction that night, then, since a whole family of lions had camped the night just a couple of hundred meters away from us :-)
It is in the midst of it! Theme: Campground

Serengeti Sopa Lodge Restaurant by Myndo Serengeti Sopa Lodge: Located on a small hill in the serengeti, so you have a nice overview over the landscape. With binoculars you can continue your wild-watching in the evening. Very good restaurant included..
That hill may not be high, but the drive up can be murderous for some vehicles. Ours only managed it after a decent run-up. On the picture you see the view from the Restaurant. We really liked it. Theme: HotelComparison: about average

Ndutu Special Campsite by Bonobo2005 You can find a facilitated campsite in Seronera Village, and all over the NP some "special campsites", designated spots in the park without any facilities where you are allowed to camp. For this "privilege" 1 person must pay $40,-/night instead of the $20 on the official campsites. Camping is a thrilling experience, when you know that hyena's and sometimes lions wander around your tent and you hear the howling and the roaring at night!
We stayed on Ndutu Special Campsite, a beautiful spot close to Lake Ndutu and we were actually the only one staying there. We decided to stay here because huge numbers of animals were in the area at that very moment, so that we didn't lose time during our gamedrives. We started the drive at 6AM, a great time to start! the lodges bar by tompt While staying in the Seronera lodge we felt pretty close to nature. Not only the resident lizards and rockhyraxes but also the hippos that came grazing in front of our window at night. All so marvelous creatures. Judging to the dung in the lodges grounds several other animals come and visit the lodge, which is not fenced.
The Seronera Wildlife Lodge is a masterpiece of architecture, built around koppies (round rocks) with the rocks integrated in the buildings. The restaurant and bar have a special atmosphere with the rockwalls and the occasional lizard passing by. The guestrooms are all located in a ring around the central reception and bar/restaurant. The rooms are spacious and clean and all have a view on the open plains or scrubs where the wildlife roams.

This is a general tip - before you come to the Serengeti, or even book a trip - take some time to really understand the migration's movements. The Ndutu area is meant to be amazing in Nov-March ... I wouldn't know, I got there in September. Then it was bare and desolate - not at all what I'd expected. The game was amazingly sparse on the plains - which restricted us to viewing around the Lake Ndutu - which was OK. But overall, it was very disappointing. So before anyone goes to the Serengeti - take some time to understand the migration and how it moves. Probably the best site I've found on doing this is the moving map and text at: http://www.expertafrica.com/country_info/Tanzania/Serengeti_migration.htm I wish I'd read this before I booked my trip to the Serengeti! This is a wonderful place to stay if you would like to interact with the Masaii. The camp is clean and the service is great. It is a permanent tent camp with basically an out door bathroom that is attached to your large tent. I would call it camping, but at the highest level possible.
An opportunity to truly interact with the Masaii is quite unique, since the only other way you will be able to is to visit a village, which is a bit contrived. It is also near to the Olduvai Gorge, where they first discovered early signs of man. Theme: OtherPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: Olduvai

Ali and Matt in the Serengeti National Park by kentishgirl This is a very basic campsite, it has no facilities to speak of except a long drop toilet, no showers - take plenty of wet wipes and prepare to be smelly for a few days! LOL...
Whats Unique? Well, you are sleeping under the stars amongst the animals of the Serengeti. Its incredibly safe, just dont have any food in your tent. At night here it gets quite cold, I had a few layers on! We had a big camp fire and ate a dinner of rice and warthog (poor lil warthogs!) Just fall asleep listening to the animals all around.
