The one complaint that other guests had was that the staff was not accomodating. Guess what?... you're in their country. Don't expect for them to adapt to you -- you're in a different country for the cultural experience so enjoy it & find out what makes them tick. Standards of conduct differ & compared to many other African countries I've been to the Gambians are far & above the nicest.
That said, my only complaint was that the food was below average when they tried to cook what one would expect to see in Britain or other areas of Europe. When you ordered the local food (or the local food was on the buffet) it was exquisite.
On my next trip I will spend my entire trip at this hotel.
