Great hotel but get an internet rate
by A TripAdvisor Member
Just returned from Tunisia and stayed three days at the Melia El Mouradi Palace. We loved the hotel and the staff at the reception was very friendly. This was the only hotel that we had not booked in advance as we did not know how much time we would spend in the desert before returning to Port El Kantoui. The rate we were given upon arrival was 73 dinars per night, which was very reasonable and exactly the rate we had previously paid in Hammamet for a Melia El Mouradi hotel. However, when we received the bill, they had charged us 73 dinars PER PERSON.
The best way to avoid this is to book in advance and get a confirmation.
great hotel

Having read lots of reviews of this hotel it was with some trepidation that we booked it. What a surprise-the hotel was lovely: spacious rooms, loads of food, nice grounds, heated (indoor)pool, activities arranged (if you want to join in), plenty of sun loungers, towels available, staff were polite and helpful. My boys aged 6 & 15 had agreat time playing football everyday on the the football pitch with a variety of other international guests. You have to remember you are in a different country with a totally different culture so those 5 stars do not quite match up to what you would expect in the UK. We will return again next year and would recommend this hotel.
Fantastically relaxing

We have just arrived back from a week in this hotel, we went for a relaxing break and thats exactly what we got. In a well equiped, spotlessly clean, spacious hotel which is ideally situated for the beach and the port. The staff were really friendly and very helpful, the facilities even on a cloudy day are great as the health complex and indoor pool are to a high standard.
We have stayed in a lot of places around the world but this has to be one of the best, I would definately go again. We went as a couple, so next time i shall take my 18 year old daughters, as they would enjoy it too.
The beach was superb with white and very fine sand. and lots of activities off the beach including restaurants showers toilets and water sports.
All in all I would say this Hotel was fantastic.
Brilliant holiday!!!!

I have just returned back home after 2 brilliant weeks at this hotel. The beach is only a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and the town of Kantui is about a 20minute walk along the beach.
Taxis are really cheap - about 3 dinars into the town and this is only about £1.30.
Met up with a great crowd in the piano bar and the craic was 90! We talked about everything from marble tiles, to Jackie Collins!ha! The hotel is great, the rooms are lovely, the pool area is gorgeous and the food is ok! I would be surprised if anyone went and had a bad holiday because I really enjoyed it and would definitely go back again!!!!

disappointing

Spent a week here at the beginning of June but have to say we were a bit disappointed. The hotel is very spcacious, well maintained and we were very happy with our room, although there was no mini fridge in the room until after we complained for the third time. What was disappointing was the standard of the food. Yes there was plenty of chocie but the quality was pretty poor - the vegetables tended to be mush and the potatoes and chips dreadful. The coffee shop - the only place where you could buy lunch was expensive and the service very poor - I had finished my meal before my husbands had even appeared. It was also quite expensive - it was cheaper to take a taxi to the Marina and back and pay for luch there (the floating restaurant was excellent) than to eat in the hotel.
This was our 3rd visit to Tunisia, both previous hotels were 4 star but offered much better food than this hotel, do not expect 5 star dinning!
