Safari questions?
by farazhussainuk
Hi all,
Just a couple of questions: I am going to Tunis in about 2 weeks and need to know how to arrange a desert safari. We are staying at the Sun Beach Resort in Tunis for the duration of out 5 day break and would like some information on how to arrange a desert safari, either from here in London, UK or once we get there. Also does anyone have any opinions about this hotel as I have fully confirmed and would like some opinions before I make it final!
Thanks in advance

Regarding safari - there are local agents which offers three days safari in jeep for about 160 dinars and it is inexpensive. Last year I had two days safari with Kartaga travel agency for about the same price, plus, we went by bus having only a short jeep tour to the oasis. I'll be again in Tunisia this August, but will take local safari tour. Besides, hotel El Mouradi in Douz is just great.

Fighting the Heat - My Ideas. Part I
by aliante1981
Travels to places like Tunisia involves a lot of fighting the heat, especially if you, like me (I am still surprised as to why I did that), go there right in the middle of the summer. Hereýs a list of useful items to take:
- Hats and other covering: Large brimmed hats that provide head covering and some shade. For women, they are also a proof of modesty, welcomed when visiting old churches and mosques. Scarves and the like covering shoulders and arms can keep the sun off during treks. A cloth hat or scarf can be soaked to help keep the head cool.
- "Squeeze Breeze": this is a water bottle with a sprayer and a battery-operated fan attached. The beach toy to take with you!
- Sun block: While sun blocks may be purchased in Tunisia, people tend to prefer sticking with their own favourite brand (the skin, too, ýgets usedý to it), and thereýs not guarantee youýll find it on the spot. So take your own, if you have preferences!

Tourbet el-Bey Mausoleum: The place to learn something of some Tunisian history that is more recent than Carthage. This is, in fact, the resting place for many beys (rulers) and other nobilty of the country starting from 18th century. There are some fine funerary marbles. You'll have to pay something like 1.1 USD entrance fee.
the remains of the ancient city of Carthage
by theH
When I was in Tunesia, I also visited the ruins of the ancient city of Carthage which was destroyed by the Roman officer Scipio Africanus in the Punic Wars. Although there's very little left of this city, it's worth to pay a visit to this (rahter small) site.
Have a tea and smoke some chincha
by schlumpf
This is my favourite activity during my past holiday in Tunisia….Have some relax walk, then take my ass on a beautifull pillow in such a beautifull tea house and smoke some Chincha meanwhile drink some Mint Tea…
That’s an amazing and relaxing way to spend an afternoon, moreover in such a place, you will definitely meet a lot of persons, lot of them are from Tunisia, and the afternoon will pass by so quick!
Enjoy, drink and smoke and moreover, Relax!!!! We are toooooooooo stressed!!!!
