A nice hotel straight on the beach
We stayed at this hotle in July 2006 for a week all inclusive. As with all similiar resorts in Tunise or Egypt, I recommend all inclusive as you'll save a lot on the drinks. The hotel is a declared 4* but in EU standards I'd give it 3* the most. But otherwise, it's a nice hotel right on the beach, the staff is very attentive and all our complanits at the reception were promptly sorted out. The food is excellent but can get dull after 7 days, a lot of vegetables, fruit, fish etc. We loved it. There's a very very small fitness inside the hotel and also a hammam. The big downside are Italian animations, that is if you're not Italian. The hotel was 75% booked for Italians so there was loud Italian music on the beach all day, Italian animations everywhere and the disco and evening programs were mainly for Italian tourists.

Good hotel in Tabarka
The Mehari Tabarka Hotel is one of many hotels along the tourist zone. Although our cab driver said that the Dar al Said was a better value for the money, this was a decent hotel. It seems to cater to Czech, German, French and Slovak visitors. It was reasonably clean, but not spotless. Some of the staff were very pleasant, others are not. Ask for an ocean-view room, the views are amazing. The breakfast buffet was okay, althought the dining room is very chaotic. The hotel's beach and pool are lovely. Do take advantage of the hotel's hammam--the post-hammam massage and algae-wrap are amazing.
