Okay for some...

This 4* hotel is, literally, right next to the airport. So obviously you’re thinking that getting a good night’s sleep is impossible. Not so. It’s surprisingly quiet during the day, and at night all you need to do is close your door, turn on the air-conditioner, and sleep tight. The double glass does a great job of eliminating the racket.

As for the rest of the hotel, it’s pretty nice. Before we came we read some rather negative reviews, and were slightly worried about our stay, but in the end everything has been great. The food is nice, though sometimes not quite hot enough, the service is friendly, there are activities galore, and an indoor pool with a Jacuzzi, though this is not as popular as the outdoor pool, or the beach. The Animators working at the hotel are some of the friendliest and most energetic people I’ve ever met. And I couldn’t forget to mention the fully functional gym, with running machine, bicycle, and a variety of weight-training apparatus.

And finally, some more on the rooms. Ours was a twin, though a double would have been nice. It was cleaned every day, with fresh towels provided too. No kettle unfortunately, though we did have a TV with BBC world news, and a balcony overlooking the gardens and the airport. The bathroom was straight from a 5* hotel though (at least in appearance); my favourite part of our rooms, apart from the bed at least! All-in-all, Not bad for a package holiday!

Unique Quality: Well, as said above, the animators are fantastic! They kept us entertained all the way through the day... As someone who used to work in hotels, and do their work, i was very impressed :)

More about Kuriat Palace

Scuba diving

by Bushman23

The Alyssa diving centre runs from the Kuriat Palace hotel, and has 2 trips a day. A fully qualified team ensures that this outfit is run like a (relatively) tight ship. They also offer diving courses, from 1* all the way to instructor level.
The trip I did consisted of a 20-30 minute dive, on a coral reef. We were taken down one at a time, and when the instructor was happy with our progress he left us alone to go fetch the next member. While we saw many kinds of fish, and some sea urchins, we were slightly disappointed not to see a greater variety of sea-life.
The total cost for our trip was 60 dinar, which included a CD of photos from the trip. Longer dives obviously cost more, and they do wreck dives for more experienced divers. Courses start at about 400 dinar.
