Good hotel

This 3 star hotel was great value for money. Set in between two sister hotels (Royal Azur - 5 star and Sol Azur - 4 star) I didn't feel this hotel lacked anything and you can also use the facilities of the other hotels.

It has a very 70s feel about it, with a diving board and huge dining room and set right on the beach. About 20 minute walk along the beach or road to the centre and main restaurants which I thought was a good distance to be away from the hustle and bustle.

Rooms were clean and spacious but you can be woken up very early by the chattering birds in the morning...

I did not try the dinner here but the breakfast was reasonable and there was lots of choice, cold meats, omelettes, pancakes and salads etc... I believe you had allocated tables in the dining room and were hearded in like cattle so avoided dinners there and ate out every night.

It is of course set up for package tourists and it seems nightlife is mainly based in the hotels and the Bel Azur has a number of 'entertainers' to keep you or the kids amused both night and day time. It wasn't my idea of fun and frankly got on my nerves a bit

All in all though if you are looking for a cheap place to stay I would highly recommend the Bel Azur

More about Bel Azur Hotel

A wonderful hotel resort

by MEdelmann

I can very good remember to the hotel we stayed.... It's name was "Bel Azur" I guess.... It had a wonderful and magnificent garden, with palm trees and flowers .... My father went there half a day to find the right places to photograph. Then we had to go with him and pose... and after two hours we were ready.... but then he realized that there was NO FILM in the camera... :-))

That's the reason why we have no pics of the garden.... We WOULD have some if there would have been a film in the camera. So always make shure that there is a film in the camera! :-))

Yummy fish soup

by clouds111 about Black on White

Located opposite the Bel Azur hotel this quaint, romantic little restuarant offers traditional Tunisian and French dishes. If you can bag a table next to the window you'll get wafts of jasmine and get to watch the world go by. Lots of antique and vintage objects in the restaurants which will make your eyes wander and you'll end up realising you've been ignoring your partner all night! ;) Fish soup was to die for!!

Yes, I stayed there in september 2003.
We loved it. Great hotel. Not so much party, but otherwise great. Clean, great staff, good pools, near the sea... Taxis are ceap so there is no problem that the city center is some way off.

Tell me about the trip, what you did, when you come back, if you want tips or idéas, ask me.

Have a nice trip.

HI! Stayed here 2 years ago.... next door to Riu El Kebir - 5 mins by taxi the town centre, or a 30 min stroll. Shops 10 mins either way..lovely beach, rooms ok, book a late checkout if you have a night flight as you have to check out of room early. This hotel used to be in Airtours prestige... now takes Direct holidays... Food excellent, but don't leave jewellery out in your room.... Spa is overpriced and not owned by hotel. DO NOT go to the Black and white restaurant 10 mins down the road... walk down to Bel Azur and Royal Azure thery have better bars and entertainment and a free disco...
