Fort
Next to the medina and overlooking the sea is an old fort that is worth having a look round for a small price. Great views and there's also a little place at the top to stop and have a refreshing drink.

2- both are nice but i will not advice to eat or to drink in a hotel or local classified hotel, the prices are high try the local food, don't froget to buy your own liquor from the freeshop in the airport
3- both are nice rated 4.7/5, reaching djerba is bout 6-8 hours travel from tunis the capital, enjoy your trip,,, if you are heading to tunisia

Olá caro José,
também estou a pensar ir à Tunisia em Agosto.
E estou a ver os hotéis seguintes em Hammamet:
Club Marmara Hammamet Beach
Club Marmara President
Club Marmara Tunisian Village
Reparei que está em vários foruns.
Será que me podia fazer chegar as respostas que foi recebendo sobre as suas dúvidas acerca da Tunisia e hoteis em Hammamet e Djerba, que no fundo são as minhas duvidas...
Muito obrigado!

Next to the medina and overlooking the sea is an old fort that is worth having a look round for a small price. Great views and there's also a little place at the top to stop and have a refreshing drink.
Years and years ago this was a sort of heaven: broad golden beaches close to the scenic walls of the old medina, pure sea water and refreshing woods behind. The same name of the city comes from the Arabic al-hammamat, that means "the baths".
Too many tourists have spiled the area that's now completely built up: hotels, viullas, new buildings for local people have almost destroyed the landscape. But still, in low season, you can find nice corners, empty beaches with the fishemens boat waiting for the right moment to sea, and you can stroll along the narrow streets of the medina avoiding the big crowds.
The old Medina is surrounded by the walls and dominated by an old fort that can be visited. From the rampants of the fort there is a nice view over the gulf and some buildings around.
The fort was erected by of Hamouda Bel Hadj Fraj in 1474, when Hammamet was only a fishermen's village, and around it started to develop the medina.
This is still charming if you avoid peak season, when it's overcrowded and you can't enjoy the quietness of its narrow and winding streets, it's buldings with walls painted with pale colours, it's weird corners.
Hammamet was discovered by Europeans and Americans during the Twenties, when the area was absolutely unspoiled and still at the peak of its beauty.
The romanian Georges Sebastian built there in this period a villa that the famous american architect Frank Lloyd Wright described as 'the most beautiful house that I know'.
A nice villa with a wonderful "patio-swimming pool", surrounded by hectares of green and with an easy access to a broad beach heading west, thus with the a view on sunset every single day. In the property area there is also a sort of amphitheatre. The villa hosts a cultural centre and music and theatre festivals are held there during summer.
The villa can be visited and it's and interesting place where to spend some hours.
Even its history is remarkable: among the others guests there was also the whole German "Hauptkommando" during a short period of the WW II, when the german command was estabilished in Hammamet. Rommel and other german officers lived there for a while.
