More about Hotel Les Citronniers
Love Tunisia,Thanks to Les Citronniers
We have just returned from Tunisia and had a great time again, Its
our fifth holiday at Les Citronniers and they seem to get better each
time. My wife Mary and I found this hotel by looking at reviews on trip advisor ,most of the reviews were great and turned out to be completely true. The people who holiday at Les Citronniers tend to
return time after time, we go back in September 2007 and we cannot
wait. Whats the attraction, we think the staff are the main reason for
the success of our holiday. They will look after your every need be it ,the food which is excellent ,bed linen which is changed daily, everything is done with a smile and a desire to please. The reception staff are well equipped to deal with any problem, sky sports and computer is available. The beach is 200 yds. away with a
bar and sun all day. If you are going there before September tell Rambo I was asking for him, Rambo "see picture" will look after you
on the beach as lifeguard he is one of the most important men working at the hotel Les Citronniers. This hotel is great but dont believe us you have to try it yourself.

Great Little Hotel!
We have just returned from a 2 week stay at Les Citronniers and as other reviewers have commented it does not deserve its 2 star rating. Indeed it was better than some 3 star hotels we have stayed in.
The room we were allocated was at the front of the property, despite this there was limited noise. It consisted of a good sized bathroom, bedroom area with dark metal furniture and sliding doors onto the balcony. The room was cleaned and fresh towels were provided on a daily basis. There were several power points available to use within the room which was good. The room we stayed in had air conditioning fitted and a safety desposit box, both of which could be rented for a relatively small fee (a/c approx 5TD per day, box approx 7TD per week). In addition there is a tv ariel fitted and a tv can also be hired although we did not take up this option.
The hotel has a popular restaurant with a wide range of dishes (Tunisian and European) which were relatively cheap and the food was nice. It seemed popular with locals and guests alike which can only be a good sign. Breakfast was included in our package and although basic a good selection of pastries, bread, jam, cheese and drinks were provided.
Other facilities available were the outdoor pool, small bar/reception area with Sky tv and a games / tv room. Internet access is also available for a small fee and the reception area can change money for you at the set national rate. Although limited, entertainment was offer whilst we were there in the form of a Belly dancer, Snake charmer and a Friday night pub quiz. Staff throughout the hotel were friendly and willing to help with any queries.
The hotel also has a section of beach a short walk away which is signposted. There is a snackbar and you can hire sun loungers with mats for 2TD (~80p) per day. We found the beach was a bit quieter than the pool area too!
It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel where you instantly made welcome.
I went to tunisia for 2 weeks in august with my family and it was absolutly fantasitic.
We stayed in the les citronniers hotel and it was clean and tidy everyday, the clearners changed the linen and cleaned everyday incluiding sundays. The staff were fabulous, so friendly and welcoming. They were so helpful and always there when you needed something.
The entertainment was briiliant there was something on every night, bingo was on everynight and that is an experience in itself as it is done in 4 different languages, also there was belly dancers, jugglers snake charmers and also there were quizes on general knowledge and also music quizes. A very good night at the hotel and the drinks were 'cheap as chips'.
The rooms were spaceous and all had a small balconey. The bathroom was clean and a good size for a 2 star hotel it was a lot better than all the 4/5 star hotels that were there.
The food in the resteraunt was very nice and tasty. There were a variety of different cuisines including italien, indian and also a full englih in the morning. There was a hotel resteraunt for the people who stayed half board but also there was an a l'acarte resteraunt for people outside the hotel and it was busy every night people from other hotels came to our hotel and said that the food there was better than there hotels which were4/5 star hotels.
The beach at our hotel was by far the best along the whole stretch of beach. You could walk for miles and out sand was so white and the sea was pure blue and so clean, so much better than any of the other beaches which were so crowded you couldnt even see sand.
It was very cheap very cheap, the exchange rate for us when we went was 2.45 tunisian denar which is there currency for every pound, so you pretty much get double your money.
The excursions were also amazing. The sahara desert trip was so good it was a 2 day trip and on the first day we visited a roman colloseum which was used partially in the making of gladiator, there was then boat trips with entertainment which was pirates as it was a real old fashioned pirate boat it was so good. There was then a night when all the reps dressed up in drag and did a show and that also took you on a day out to port el kantoiu which is another place in tunisia. and the final tripo we went on was a trip to the safari park and there were elephants, tiger, lions, kangeroos and giraffes but then loads more like hyennas and wild dogs and then an entertainment night at the end of it with zulu and belly dancers it as really good.
I absolutly loved my holiday there and i have recently booked another holiday to go back next year in july as there was so much that i wanted to do but idnt have time to do as it went so quick.
I would recommend the hotel anytime it was so nice and a very good experience.
I you decide to go you will have the time fo your life. Have fun
We found this hotel MANY years ago, 1994 was our first visit to the hotel, Then there was only the front Building, So what if its only 2 stars, the Staff are amazing and will go out of their way to help, The food is not the best but you are surprised at the quantity and how full you feel after. The Beach is across the way and down an alley way , such fine sand.
This trip was our 7th time to the hotel and, we come away feeling refreshed, I have to say we may be alittle fond of this hotel, we have been going to Tunisia for Years, we have stayed in 5 Star hotel in Yasmin/Sousse/Kantoui.. we would keep going back to the Citronnier for as long as they will have us.
GIVE IT A GO, DONT BE PUT OFF BY 2 STARS, EXPERIENCE TRUE TUNISIAN HOSPITALITY,THIS IS A SMALL HOTEL AND WORTH EVERY SINGLE PENNY.
ok if you have paid a budget price unlike us!
We stayed at the hotel citronniers and came back on Sunday. We booked direct through going places in advance which was a big mistake!!!! We paid £950.00 for a week's self catering hotel, basically we were a bit niave! Most of the people there had paid about £200 each which is about right, don't pay much more than this. It is a very basic hotel, the accomodation was clean and the staff were friendly. The pool was small but sufficient. The rooms are fine but need repainting and the bathrooms were very dated although the shower had good water pressure. The main problem we had were the other guests - typical brits abroad taking advance of cheap lager and hence we had problems with being woken at 3am when they returned from the "british bar" in hammamet. I guess this is fine if this what you are after - we were after a quiet relaxing break!!
The resort of hammamet is actually very nice - the beaches were fabulous - gorgeous white sand and blue warm sea. The staff at the hotel's beach were amazing - especially the famous "Rambo" who gives you lots of banter! The food at the beach bar was good too. The currency the is the tunisian dinar, which worked out at about 100 DT to £40, convert your pounds into euros, then change your euros into dinars at the airport in tunisia, as it is a closed currency and you will get a better exchange rate on the euros. You could get a basic three course set meal at the hotel for only 10DT (£4) so you could definitely have a very cheap holiday if you just wanted some sun! Watch out for the beach and street sellers - and we had a scary experience with a taxi driver - get out immediately if they don't have a timed display unit showing the money owing. However most of the locals are friendly but I wouldn't recommend the resort for active children or young women travelling without men. Despite all this I wish I was still there!!!
Stayed at the citronniers hotel in september, and had a excellent time. The staff were lovely friendly people, the hotel was clened throughly every day and the food was pretty tasty too.I will be returning very soon in the near furture and will also recommend it too friends and family.Only complaint i had was i had to come home!!
Great little hotel
We were a bit sceptical at first but found the hotel and staff to be
very nice and friendly, hotel was cleaned daily and food was excellent. Overall a very good relaxing holiday, definitely would go
We stayed here during the month of October 06. We paid 660Euros for 2 weeks B&B for 2 adults and 1 child. (Last mintue booking). Yes the hotel is basic, the bathrooms outdated, but I can safely say it was one of the best holidays we had. The bedlinen and towels were changed DAILY, the food was of a high standard and the staff were second to none. Fantastic atmosphere and craic during the evening in the bar/lounge. During our stay we met some really lovely people who where residents of the Citroniers and we also met lovely people who where staying at the 5 Star hotel up the road - who preferred the Citronniers for its friendly atmosphere and excellent food - also the sky TV was a major attraction when the football was on, as the five star hotel didn't have this.
The beach was great and it was really nice to have the snack bar there - which again provided really good food at very cheap prices.
The weather was perfect 26 - 28degrees for 13 days, the last day we had thunder and lightening virtually none stop and the locals told us that summer was finished.
We didn't feel we where hassled any great amount, although I am not sure whether that was because we went at the end of the season. Everyone we met where polite very helpful and very accomodating, for a great relaxing holiday on a budget, I couldn't recommend this hotel enough, we will definately be going back!
Even though this hotel has only 2 stars I found it perfectly reasonable. I visited it in April which was a little too cool for the outdoor pool but if you go just a few hotels down the road you can use a 4 star hotels indoor pool (where I had a lovely massage).
There is no TV in the room - but you probably couldn't understand it anyway, and I hear the restaurant here was good even though I didn't eat there. Just one tip when here don't drink spirits as a double whicky came to about £8 - whereas the local beer is quite good and reasonable.
