    Like a Poet...

    by

Omar Khayam was a brilliant Poet of the 11st Century, and It's also the name of one of the hotels you can find in hammamet. Not really hard to find, we were coming from Tunis, 1 hours by road...

The hotel is a 3*** (local classifications!) nice architecture, entrance room a bit dark, cold drink to welcome, our room isn't really on sea side but whatever, there is large windows oriented to west but with a beautiful view on a ... wall, well in fact, none of the rooms have a view on the sea...

You need to walk through the main hall to reach the dining area, the bar, the swimming pool is rectangular water is very warm, and you have the view on the sea when you're in the swimming pool, that's pretty cool and you can easily switch between the two...

Unique Quality: Quick access to the beach, food ok, clean sand, warm water in the swimming pool

    Directions: north Hammamet, Touristic area

Beach Hotels

by grets about Various

Accommodation in Africa, like the rest of the world, has something for everyone. I will try and feature a few different styles of accommodation available, rather than specific hotels as such, as there are way too many to try and recommend just a few. Beach Hotels. Africa boasts many splendid beaches, and if that is what you are after from a holiday, look no further. You can choose a nice hotel, right on the beach, in every price range. The picture shows the Omar Khayam Hotel in Hammamet in Tunisia, where we stayed in 1989. The hotel was clean, reasonably priced and offered a host of activities, such as waterskiing, parasailing, beach aerobics amongst others. There was a lovely pool, but we did find that the sun loungers were taken well before we got up. We spent most of our time on the beach anyway, where you could hire sunbeds very cheaply.
