Le Royal Hotel Hammamet
I've just booked a holiday in Yasmine Hammamet , Le Royal Hotel. Has anyone stayed there? What's the nightlife around Yasmine Hammamet ? We are a group of four in our thirties , first time in Tunisia.We will take a tour around Tunisia on our first week and relax at the hotel for another week.Any tips are welcome!
Sunshine at New Year in Tunisia ?
Dear Fellow Travellers,
I live in London, and I need to get away after Christmas for one week of sun and beach. I am thinking Tunisia could be a good place to go. I've also found that Port El Kantaoui is apparently a nice coastal area.
1. Will it be sunny and hot enough at that time of year (end December early January) - can I swim in sea?
2. If the answers to 1 are yes - Does anyone have any recommendations of places to stay.? Or better places to go than Port El Kantaoui.. (I just need peace , sun, sea and good food)..

Tunisia will certainly be more sunny than Morocco and the mediterranean in Tunisia warmer than the Atlantic in Morocco. However, the sea, even in Tunisia will not be very warm, so, it depends of what temperature you require to swim ! In both countries, it is a period when it can rain, but it can also be sunny.

You might want to try Jerba (Djerba) which is southern to El Kantaoui and thus a bit warmer.

I went to Hammamet in October, and alhtough at the beginning it was tanfastic, towards the end it was definitely not sunning yourself weather. We found the sunshine always in the people, especially the staff at the hotel where we stayed, Le Royal, Hammamet. They have 3 outdoor and an indoor pool, the accomodation is lovely (don't go for the main building though, the marble floors reverberate to restaurant staff moving chairs) there is entertainment every night should you wish, and the barstaff are charming.
Go to the new medina, and the last boutique before the horse statue exit and ask for Ahmel to do you a lovely henna tatoo, say I sent you. For very little money you will have a unique souvenir - albeit only for 2 weeks, but real tatoos can be regretted for years!
Tunisia has so much to offer, enjoy!
