A place where it feels like home

To be honest it is not really a five-star hotel. In that regard maybe Tunisia has a little catching up to do. But I am glad to "forgive" a few details considering the wonderful atmosphere I found there. The personnel was very kind and good-natured, without trace of that snobism you will so often see in big hotels; the animation team was simply fantastic, treating everybody with the utmost sympathy, from small children to elderly people, and putting up delightful entertainment. Food was always good and with plenty of variety. The rooms were comfortable, and everything was clean. The pool is fantastic and the beach is right there, with direct access from the hotel. Too bad it was winter! Not everything was perfect, there were small details to be improved, some services were not always functioning (jacuzzi didn't work, sometimes there wasn't internet connection...) and cleanliness maybe didn't fit swiss patterns... Nevertheless, it felt like home: a place where you felt relaxed and at ease with yourself and the others. I would certainly recommend it.

Unique Quality: Great pool, fine views, easy access to a fine beach, sympathy, fine inner pool, comfort.

Great pool in Yasmine

Hotel Taj Sultan has 5 stars, but in my opinion it’s overrated. You can see it by numerous little stuffs like worn out table wear, begging at the reception to send someone to give us a safe deposit box which never happened so we had to keep our valuables in the suitcase with code, stained carpets, food selection, some rooms have terrible view, you wait for 20 minutes for waiter to bring you coffee or juice (lack of staff) etc. It has its good sides, of course, like huge pool and the facts that guests do not have to cross the street to get to the beach which is the case with vast majority if hotels in Yasmin Hammamet. The hotel has its own beach just as you pass the pool.

Do not take All Inclusive option because it means that you get local drinks (which are not drinkable) instead of Coke or Fanta.

Unique Quality: Hotel has great outdoor and indoor poll, as well as jacuzzi (for free) and massage and relax center (payable).
Great for families with kinds since it has Minnie club which offers lots of things for youngsters to do.

More about Vincci Taj Sultan

Great Luxury Hotel

by Julialondon about Vincci Taj Sultan

There were not many reviews on the Taj Sultan before I booked, so I will admit to being a little apprehensive, but a couple of good ones did turn up towards the beginning of June.

I was incredibly impressed with the standard of the hotel. The photographs in the brochure didn't do it justice. There is a huge freshwater pool outside with a bridge that goes accross it, surrounded by gardens and sun loungers. There is also a very nice indoor pool with a beauty salon below it in the basement. The restaurant was also lovely and served a nice variety of food. Even a veggie could quite happily be satisfied with the selection.

There is a selection of two bars and a moorish cafe for the evening. Prices for drinks are quite expensive though because many spirits etc are difficult to get hold of and expensive to buy.

Overall, though not particularly tailored for the English as we only made up about 5% of the total guests, this hotel was out of this world and I would definitely recommend it to couples young and old and families (providing your kids can speak a bit of French/German/Italian.) The entertainment and activities in the hotel were provided by the animation team. The only criticism I have of them is that the chief animator and a couple of the team can not speak any English and therefore any talking in the shows etc was done in German French and Italian only. This did not however generally detract away from the shows themselves as most entertainment was visual rather than audio (apparently they're doing Grease the musical one evening this week.) There were two members of the team that made a real effort to speak to us in English, and one of them (Ned) took us under his wing and really did everything to make our stay enjoyable.

Facilities Included:
Beautiful outdoor pool, indoor pool, lovely beach views, beach barbeque, moorish cafe, jacuzzi (when working), beauty salon, taxis always outside.

Nightlife in tunisia

by pablosingh about below is a list

from the reviews we read before flying out to tunisia we knew this was not a lads holiday 5 lads ready for some serious clubbing but tunisia as a destination seems a bit odd but trust me when i say it was very very good...

The places to hit are samara now known as living on a saturday night very busy but a lot of couples

bar mericana very good loads of single ready to mingle ladies but be warned drinks are expensive in living £80 for a bottle of vodka you have to buy full bottles in living

primadonna very good dance music

red gwana very good

vincci hotel club full of italians

their are many bars and clubs within hotels also

if you are intending on going clubbing do not enter the club until 12:30am ish becuase they are dead before 1am clubs close at 4am in tunisia so the later ther better also if you are a tourist their aint really a dress code for yourselfs

but make sure the door men dont screw you by charging you all places are free for tourists well all the ones above were but we saw a lot of other people getting stung with a 10dinar charge

finally be warned a lot of tunisian men are batty boyz you may have to box a few up like we did dress code: casual, no football tops though not even tunisia football tops we tried that one also it didnt work
