After reading reviews and having stayed in luxury 5 and 6 star hotels around the world (america, sydney, Dubai) I was nervous to say the least. The hotel was very clean, quiet but the entertainment team made it lively in the evenings. The staff were extremely friendly and added that extra touch , they remembered our names, our favorate table at breakfast, and also made a selection of different cocktails for me as i wasn't sure which i would like! overall a great holiday. The bar was contemporary, the rooms were clean and comfy. The staff really made it though. great local knowledge and they all went the extra mile. Thanks Guys
The Hotel is not 4star.Some staff do try to speak English, but do feel English are not welcome. The hotel is for the french,The food isnt to good and seems to be the same every meal, a big lack of fresh fruit. The rooms are in need of a revamp.Although they are cleanish they do need to brush and polish more.Air con never seem to work. The drinks are small and you do need to wait a long time. The beach needs more looking after .I would not go there again, If your thinking of going ,go to a much higher grade and not Sousse, only for a short visit
Having booked this hotel with Thomson who say it is a 4T rated hotel i was looking forward to our stay. on arrival the hotel looks very impressive all glass and modern until you walk thru to the rear to where the cells oop's sorry i mean bungalows are, butlins 1974 is more like it. this hotel is not for the British. our room was not ready with dirty sheets still unmade on the beds. we were offered no food or drink on arrival and told the resturants were closed. the reception staff were most unfriendly and quite rude. after several phone calls to the thomson helpline the rep arrived and i asked to be moved to another hotel. i paid a substantial amount and was pleased to leave this terrible place. please think twice about this awful place.
stayed recently, first impression, a bit uncertain but as week went on it got better and better. As customary in Tunisia room was functional and not too fussy. Staff friendly, couldn't do enough for us although some spoke little English they tried and were very friendly
those who did speak English were very knowledgeable and multi lingual (arabic, french, german, english ALL SELF TAUGHT)
We would recommend this hotel and a return visit is in the planning stages
We have previously stayed in Tunisia in 2006 so we knew that a 4 star hotel does not mean a 4 star here in Britain, we knew what to expect, it is a lovely modern hotel, all rooms are basic which is fine as you only use them to sleep in. Rooms cleaned on a daily basis(clean towels and bedding). All staff are friendly and will do anything to help you, even if thier english is not so good. Entertainment(animation) team were fantastic, great with all kids. Hotel was clean, food was good plenty of choice lots of fruit and veg to choose from. There are a lot of Germans but also French, Russian, Polish, Italian, and Brits etc.. The Hotel is in a great location, right in the middle between Sousse and Port El Kantoui, which in each direction is about 30-40 mins walk away or only 10 mins by Noddy train(2.5 dinars per person). We had a great holiday there and would definately go back.
Thought this hotel was excellent! The hotel room could have be updated - there was no fridge, which was disapointing. BUT the food was great and even better the staff (entertainers) were amazing!! We had such a great time and I really miss them all! Everyone was so friendly, the entertainment was brilliant! Would defo go here again! Thank you Thalassa :)
Me and my partner went to Tunisia May last year it was our first holiday as a couple and I was 5months pregnant. We had an excellent time. Yes there were alot of Germans and by the middle of the week we were the only English there but it was good you cant expect to have a resort full of english or english speaking people in a foreign country, If you want everyone to speak English maybe you should just stay in England. We are the only country that do not teach children other languages at a young age and were very ignorant about other languages and expect everyone to understand us.
OVERALL we found the holiday amazing and great for kids all the staff are amazing with them the food was great and the pool was good. We are now planning our next holiday with our baby and are really looking forward to it. We were going to go in July but its fully-booked. Totally reccomend this Hotel!!
Nice hotel with a very nice pool. The lobby is very nice and there are some seats outside where you can relaxe with a cocktail. The staff is very helpfull and when giving a tip they would move the earth for you. Had some very good dinners at the hotel. The room wasn't that clean, but the weather and nice environment made up for a lot.
Food: The food was great. I have been to many hotels and been dissapointed on numirous occasions however this hotel was diffrent. The cerals, bread and juices at breakfast were fantastic. Their was a wide variety of meat and veggie options at both lunch and dinner so everyone will be happy
Pools: They were massive. The water slides were an added bonous which kept the kids ammued.
Service: You felt like royalty. They allways came up to you asking if you would like a refill.
Overall this is the best holiday i have been on and i was worried after reading some of the negative reviews however these should be disrageded because this hotel was fantastic
10/10
Hello folks. My girlfriend and I planning our Tunisia trip. cant decide where to stay yet. Been thinkin of Sahara Beach in Skanes or Thalassa Sousse Hotel in Sousse.
Would you advise me what prices are there. If we stay in Sousse. I mean, travel, museums, food, drinks? What places to see
Or drop any link here.
Thanks, JD
Sousse is a good option. It's a big city with good transport links, nice beaches and plenty of interesting sights both in Sousse and nearby.
It is a very cheap country by european standards. I stayed in a 4 star hotel at the end of 2008 and a round of drinks for 4 people worked out about £6 (or 6 euros). Lunch (pizzas, sandwiches and drinks etc) for 4 came to about £15 and it is much cheaper outside the hotels.
In Sousse you have the Grand Mosque (a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Ribat and the Medina all great sights and worth the trip alone.
Nearby you have Kairouan (4th most holy sight in the muslim world) and El Djem (intact Roman coloseum where they filmed Gladiator) both are UNESCO World Heritage Sights. I used a taxi to see them both and it cost me about £60 for a whole day but you can take shared minibus.
There is a rail link to Tunis and although I didn't have time to go I spoke with some people who did and they said the journey takes about an hour was very cheap.
Have a good search on VT and you'll find a lot of tips and photos of the places I've mentioned.
We all enjoyed Sousse and would go back again. The beaches are glorious fine sand btw.
