The Carawanserail

Hotel The Carawanserail in Nefta.
Quite good food. But watch out, do not loose your towels, people in our group lrft theit towels at the pool, and had to pay very expensive. So, leave your towels in your room.

very clean and nice little hotel near the oasis of Nefta. The rooms are very simple, but charming. The french people would call it a 'hotel de charme'.
A nice place to stay.

Hotel El Mourabi in Douz: Hotel El Mourabi in Douz

Well, well, well, let's say ... could have been cleaner! The hotel is great, big dinerhall, nice lodge but ... the rooms...did really not convince me. Very beautiful from the outside, but from the inside ?

Melia El Mouradi: Melia El Mouradi

This was a package - I paid about £550 for the whole deal - 7 nights, bed, breakfast and evening meal, including flights.

Excursions, drinks and room service were extra.

Clean, nicely furnished and generally pleasant.

Hotel Dar Faiza: Hotel Dar Faiza

about 15 to 20 $

This hotel doesn´t offer any luxury dwelling, though it has a small pool. But it´s clean, small (only about 25 rooms) and its not in the 'zone touristique'. Which means, you are not stuck in a tourist ghetto, but live just across the small harbor of houmt Souk, the biggest town on Djerba - not really a big town. When I stayed in this hotel almost 3 years ago, I woke up to the crowing of the local roosters and shrieks of donkeys on the street...

Dalia: Dalia

£300

the price was good, pool was cold, facilities were ok, there was good entertainment in the evening, there was no sea view. This hotel is one of the smaller friendly hotels not far from the beach. i would definatly go there again!

Le Saphair Village: Le Saphair Village

The hotel was spotless, the food was great, the waiters and workers at the hotel were fantastic - so friendly, especially towards my little daughter who was then 4 years old.

The all-inclusive idea was great. The snacks at the pool bar were great.

The hotel entertainment was great. No two nights alike. Airtours reps were very good as well.
Plenty of games and things to do both for my husband and my daughter. Me, the poolside beds were great!!

HOTEL SAHARA DOUZ***: HOTEL SAHARA DOUZ***

There is a thermal bath in the hotel which is excellent. After a day of camel-riding and some true desert-experience it is a great place to relax. The bath is covered with moorish-style mosaics and the pool inside is filled with warm water. At one end is a small tube through which water flows. If you stand below the tube you can feel even hotter water flowing on you. It is really very pleasant. To all this add that this 'oasis' is basically in the middle of the barren desert.

I found some amazing places to stay in Tunisia but I'm going to give top billing to the Sidi Driss, an underground hotel in Matmata. Star Wars was filmed here way back when. I was the only guest but, as I say, it WAS off-season. Sleep in a cave for around $10/night. Cool deal!
