Teke Akwo: “Let them talk”
Teke Akwo bar and lodge is where I stayed in Kitgum. It was the first accommodation that I arrived at after alighting from the bus as the lodge was about 50 yards from the entrance to the bus park.
Teke Akwo in Acholi means “Let them talk” a rather strange name you might think for a bar and lodge but there is a bar and lodge in central Nairobi called Reke Marie or “Let them talk” which is the translation from the Gikuyu.
After having trouble with water in Gulu is was luxury to have running water 24 hours a day in the Teke Akwo. My room here was costing 16,000 UGX, with a decent size bed with a net.
Once again in Northern Uganda I was made to feel really welcome here by the staff of the lodge and made a friend in one of the waitresses young child who is seen in the photo modeling my hat.
