House in Mbala: Staying With Friends

As with most of my travels around Zambia, we either stayed at the homes of fellow 'volunteers' who were working in the country or sometimes at government run Rest Houses.

On this trip to the southern tip of Lake Tanganyika, we were fortunate to be able to be stay with fellow Canadian volunteers (secondary school teachers) living in Mbala. As teachers, they were supplied with very nice single level houses equipped with all the necessities of life.

It was always great to have 'inside' contacts in the places that we visited and it was also nice to be able to sit around in the evenings comparing notes over a few beers (as the living room table can attest)!
