The coolest place to staynear Livingstone

A must-visit if you're anywhere near Livingstone, we will never forget our amazing stay at Jungle Junction in 2005. The accommodation is based on an island in the middle of the Zambezi river where the hippos will honk you to sleep (no kidding!). The huts are simple but decent (each have nets and bathrooms) and there are camping spots for those on a lower budget like we were. It is completely unique and can be reached only by dug-out canoe. Guests range from adventurous tourists to backpackers and a variety of excursions are on offer each day.

Unique Quality: Words can't describe how unique and special this place is. Hammocks are dotted about for relaxing with a book and a campfire is lit each night - perfect for guests to get to know each other. You can self-cater or order meals from the kitchen, depending on budget and laziness. The bar operates on an honesty policy and is the friendliest place we visited in Africa.

  • Opinion of Price: less expensive than average
