This was my home away from home during 2000 to 2002. At that time the room rate negotiated by my travel agent was US$120 per night. On check-in I was upgraded to the executive floors. The management and staff are very helpful. If you stay on the executive floors (15th floor or above) the private lounge is a treat with free drinks and snacks. During my visits the exchange rate worked very well in my favour meaning that a beer from the in room mini bar cost about R3 (US$0.50) a bottle although I don't know what the situation is now. Breakfasts were always a treat - Real English breakfast style Theme: HotelPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averagePhone: 263-4-772633

by sebblit7 This used to be the Sheraton. It's the same old hotel I remember but it's had a face lift, new carpets, new front desks. Free wireless internet connection in the lobby area, just ask the check in staff for a voucher. Currently the voucher is free, this may change soon. One warning about this and all hotels in Zim. Do not charge anything to your room, if you do you will be made to pay for it in US$ at the "official rate" on check out. The official rate is currently US$1 = Zim$250 so if you you have a meal for Zim$2500 you will pay US$10 on check-out The unofficial rate is US$1 = Zim$1100 so if you pay cash for a Zim$2500 meal you will have effectively paid US$2.30 for the meal. My room had two single beds, an electronic safe, an unstocked minibar, TV, telephone, bath and shower. The aircon wasn't working effectively. Room service was a lot faster than I remeber it, about 5 minutes for a drink and about 20 minutes for a sandwich. Like most of the wonderful people in Zimbabwe, the staff are extremely polite and friendly. I booked my room through Zimbabwe International Travel and Tours and they gave me a rate of US$90/night including taxes and full English b/fast: Obviously this rate may change but it's a dam site cheaper than what a walk in will cost.
