cheap travel options.

by rider000

is there a way to get from Nairobi to victoria falls other than flying? i have 4 days to do it in just trying to find some cheap options.

Re: cheap travel options.

The idea of cheap airlines has not really taken hold in Africa like it has in Europe and North America. I would suggest you email and or telephone local Tour Agents in Nairobi.

Here are a few:

When I was in Uganda I saw package deals of flight & hotel for consierably cheaper than booking seperately. These folks can tap into charter airlines you have not heard of.

If Zim Air ever flies again - don't fly with them!!!

There are some excellent charter airlines in that region like Precision Air.

Good luck and lat us know if you were able to find a deal. Your best chance is a flight to Livingstone, Zambia and taxi/walk across.

Hope you make it.

I couldn't find a cheap way to do it from Nairobi and finally scrapped the idea. I learned it was easier and cheaper to get there from South Africa.

Travel Tips for Victoria Falls

Fronteras y visas / Borders and visas

by elpariente

We arrived to Zimbabwe from Botswana and we passed the border without any problem, filled the forms and we payed 35 USD for a single-entry visa
The border of Zambia is very near the center of Victoria Falls and there we had not spent a long time , as the burocracy was not very complicated .
The amount of the visa is 50 USD one entry . (We had read that this border was very slow)
Both payments must be done in USD

Money Matters

by PierreZA

Nothing costs less than a dollar (US). To get change is a major problem. South African Rands, USD, British Pounds and Euros are accepted. Try to have small denominations, it will save you a lot of problems.
No transactions are done with Zimbabwe Dollars.

Backpackers Bazaar

by skatzcatz

for bookings and information on activities and safaris try Backpackers Bazaar, they even found my mobile phone i lost in Botswana for me (and if you see a kangaroo on a desk - i sent it :P )

They are experts in:
Victoria Falls
Zambia
Botswana
Namibia
Malawi
Mozambique etc

they arranged a Chobe National Park day tour i took and provided plenty of great advice. nothing was too much trouble for them.

The Falls - The power of mother nature!

by Kramer01

The park is kept with a minimal impact by man. Forget the lineup of restaurants or souvenirs shop, there's none of this! It makes the walk through the park a real pleasure for the senses without distractions. Wherever you are you can hear the thunder of the water crashing down the falls...

RAINBOWS FOREVER!!

by safardreams

I love the sound of the water!! But I love the rainbow even more!! I wish I had taken more
pics while I was here. But I know better now.
So, take many pics if you go visit!! I met this German named ALAN. We talked about our cameras. The sunrise that was
on it's way. Nice man. Didn't have e-mail at the time. Never did get his address.
