Staying in Herat

I stayed with a family at their home. Tourist accomodation is possible but you may need to learn the signs. Bed bugs are possible and it can get very cold in winter - take your long johns you will need them. Long drop dunnies appear to be the norm so you need to be flexible.

BACKPACKER LODGE

I'm hardly to recommend you any hotel to stay here. During my first visit here, there are a lot of Backpacker Hotel, nice, clean and cheap.

After war and Taliban control nearly non exist a Backpacker Hotel. Honestly, may be they are not ready to recive a guest or tourist. Their *Mission* or Embassy at foriegn countries are not eager to response any enquaries from public. I can not make any comments or judgement WHY...should be they have their reasons.
