Lousy picture through my hotel room window by Wanderboy43 The place seems to be the best deal for $10/night. I stayed in a guest house hotel for $7 last night but it was loud, and cold (no blankets). There's another comperable hotel 'Hotel Jamil" which quoted us $20/night.
No hot water. Toilet and shower are down the hall. friendly staff If you want a hot shower (but not much of a nicer room, but a bit cleaner, try hotel mustafa, where a double is $50/night, and a single is either $35 or $45 depending on the size/qualitiy of furnishings. After almost 4 years in Afghanistan, for a change, I thought of spending some nights in the most expensive hotel in Kabul - Kabul Serena Hotel. I've four reasons for spending a night there: 1) they have a spa where one can have a good massage, steam bath and jacuzzi, 2) they have a good gym, 3) rooms have bath tub - a rarity in Kabul, 4) breakfast - just the way I want it.
The rooms are individually air-conditioned, accessorized with amenities you will find in 4-star hotels abroad, sheets are clean, view from the room is nice, and without mentioning what you can find inside this hotel - after the suicide bombing that took place - security measures have been implemented and I consider this hotel as one of the safest, if not the safest hotel in Kabul. The hotel has a coffee shop which provides the best and freshest cakes in Kabul. The garden will help you feel at home or at least relaxed... Internet access is provided in every room. The lounge is cozy although you may not feel alone because of the staff around the place. I have not stayed in this Guesthouse. I have checked out the rooms though. They are simple and clean. The brochure says that the rooms are air-conditioned, they have satellite TV, 24-hour room service, in-house laundry facility, and bathroom inside the room. The price for a single room per night ranges from AFA 3000 to AFA 5000 but if you stay longer, you will be able to get the price down.
The restaurant inside the Cedar House offers Italian, Lebanese and Afghan cuisine. It has a beautiful garden and the management is currently working on improving the amenities. the intercontinental by husain A 200 room hotel, and should be finishing with the rennovations now. Its not part of the Intercontinental group of hotels, though it used to be many years ago. Its now run by the government. At an aveage room rent of $100 per night, i`d say its not your cheapest option.
Nice view from atop a hill, has a pool too, am not sure if i remember seeing water in there though. But this was on my first trip in 2002, so things may have changed... This is the hotel for many international conferences, sometimes home to journalists, Afghan government ministers. The times i have been in Kabul, there have scarcely been accomodation options to speak of, let alone luxury/ 5 star hotels. The recently innagurated Serena though has changed all that. The hotel is excellently located and near the embassy area... Operated by the Serena group, which is owned by the Aga Khan development network, its a completely rennovated property from a former soviet era building.
The hotel has 177 rooms, including suites and all the usual 5 star comforts such as speciality restaurants and a pool. Recently, the hotel was the venue of a fashion show. A first in Afghanistan for decades... http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/5163282.stm

http://www.afghans4tomorrow.com/default.asp?contentID=71 I've stayed at A4T guesthouse a couple of times for ten days. email them. They may give a discount for longer stays. It's worthwhile just to have staff that knows how to navigate around Kabul and price includes meals and internet use at least while I was there. http://www.greetingsfromafghanistan.blogspot.com
Local Staff. Breakfast and dinner included. Laundry. Internet Access. What I liked was being in a neighborhood. Allows for contact with the local Afghan people who are totally hospitable. Najib Sedeqe in country director e-mail: najibullahsedeqe@yahoo.com

Diana Inn is a great place to stay if you want to stay out of any kind of trouble. it is located in a posh area (Wazir Akbar Khan) where you will find many embassies and foriegn missions. The rooms are clean, nicely decorated and well furnished. staff is very friendly and always at your service. you will find a great deal at $50 per night (incl. breakfast) and the food menu is also very reasonable. Rashidi, the owner is a well educated guy and speaks excellent english. it is 5 minute drive to/from shahr-e-naw. stores, indian, pakistani, turkish, chinese reataurants are very close to Diana Inn, if you want to have a change in your daily menu. internet reception/speed was weak.
great service, safe and secure area, a very good night sleep after a tiring day. This was the first major hotel to open after the war in 2002. Its ontop of a mountain and has very high security most VIP's stay there for that reason. The rooms are ok and the view of Kabul form there is quite nice. Its not the best hotel in the world but when I went there in 2003 it was the best in Kabul. I hear things are much better now adays, when I was there there wer eno TV's and a small internet cafe where you can get online. The food was not too good either but as I said its supposed to be much better now.
