Dhaka Sheraton Hotel: Daka sheraton looks Ok in Dhaka

My stay was Ok in dhaka. I stayed in this hotel for a month. One good thing in this hotel is it has a small bar where you get heinaken easily. The staff in the hotel are old and harsh in responding. Sheraton does not have an indian restaurant even though many indians stay in this hotel. The hotel has good swimming pool.
You can not compare this hotel to any other international Sheraton heotel as the staff are very un professional and very arrogant in their response. Looking at dhaka city, the hotel looks much OK. The breakfast is medium and I guess they have to give more importance on the cleanliness. I can still remember the flies on cut fruits.
The hotel is near to "Bashundara" which is a big shopping mall in dhaka. a km away... There are no good shops near by hotel sheraton.
The administrator of Sheraton is good. He will respond well for your querries.
swimming Pool. Gymnasium, Long Tennis court. Bar, Shoe polishing.
I stayed here in September 2006. I wasn't too impressed, my complaints included: very small rooms, AC in the hotel too cold, extremely poor room service food, staff hanging around for tips, complex and very expensive system for internet access. Also the location isn't very good.
I wouldn't stay here again. Now I have found a much better hotel - it's called Lake Shore Hotel (see my separate tip) - which is a fantastic place with great service, location and all the facilities the Sheraton doesn't have.

Aaaah, what a wonderful place to stay! After a long flight, or coming back from the provinces, the Dhaka Sheraton is a welcome site indeed. Helpful staff, good food in the restaurants, great room, and even wireless high speed internet access in the lobby (always a plus). Unfortunately, the signal didn't reach to my room.
In Dhaka city have a few number of 5 star hotels in different location. Dhaka Sheraton, Panpacific Sonargoan, Radisson Water Garden, The Westin Dhaka, Dhaka Regency are almost of them. Hilton Dhaka just start their construction work and may be takes another some years for start their operations.
In those of the hotel room rate are not same, some are higher and some's are lower.
Dhaka Sheraton and Pan Pacific Sonargoan hotel's standard rooms are available between $120-135 (discounted) with complementary breakfast and pickup drop. Radisson is little bit higher; their standard room rate starts from $ 150 (discounted). The Westin Dhaka is the most expensive hotel in Dhaka city. Their starting price is $ 200.
But Dhaka Regency is the cheapest 5 star hotels among of this hotels. It’s possible to get a standard room within $ 110. All prices here are net-net. More information mail to bdboy_80ATyahoo.com or dial 01727 266077

Looks nice from outside, but...

My stay was unpleasant to say the least. I could not imagine a 5-star hotel not having a 24-hour housekeeping service...have to call the duty manager to request some regular hotel stuff, which should have been readied in the first place prior to arrival, after doing a late-night check-in. Other annoying things: very unhelpful hotel staff (except for some duty manager who arranged late check-out); and so-so breakfast buffet.
And before I forget, their "newly refurbished" lobby clearly needs the professional services of a reputable ID firm.
If having an unpleasant stay could be classified as unique.
