The Business Hotel of Brunei
I was at the Terrace Hotel next door. There are nice facilities in this hotel including a nice place to have a little bit of tucker, away from the noise. if you dont want to be mistaken for the business types who come here, dont come here.. there are occasional special rates on the internet and for a family this might be a good alternative. you could also bargain for your room rate since they seem to be amenable to it.
Unique Quality: oldest business hotel part of the sheraton chain close to the market, day or night market walking distance to sir omar ali saifuddin mosque walking distance to the museums and eating place at jalan residency by the water
Opinion of Price: most expensive

Sheraton Utama Hotel
The Sheraton Utama Hotel is one of the best hotels located within Bandar Seri Begawan, very close to many of the city's attractions such as The Royal Regalia, Brunei History Centre, Water Village, and Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. The hotel is about nine kilometres from the Brunei International Airport and offer a limited airport pickup and drop-off service. I did not stay in this hotel but my Bruneian friends told me that it is good, although the exterior facade of the building is rather uninteresting because the hotel was built many years ago. Check out their website below for more details.

BSB's favorite hotel
Sheraton Utama in Bandar Seri Begawan is probably one of the oldest hotel here. It's is conveniently located within walking distance of many of Brunei's tourist attractions, such as The Royal Regalia, Brunei History Centre, Water Village, and Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque. The rooms are quite modest for the Sheraton chain of hotels and probably needs an update. The rooms are spacious and the color scheme is predominantly beige & white.
There is also a restaurant on the ground floor but I'm not sure if they serve alcohol. They do serve hearty breakfast which is not always included in the room rate

There are quite a few hotels in Brunei, The Sheraton Utama, Riverview Hotel, The Crowne Princess Hotel, etc. For those who have no budget constraints, I would highly recommend The Empire Hotel. And for those on a budget, a backpackers inn exists too, which costs about B$20 a night.
Five star hotel in the center of Bandar
by aukahkay about Sheraton Utama Hotel
I stayed at the Sheraton Utama Hotel from 29 - 31 August 2008 when I was in Brunei to attend a conference. It is not the usual Sheraton Hotel that you will find in North America as it is really very small with only 6 floors. The rooms are average sized and more of a superior tourist-class rather than deluxe class. There is a coffe house, the Tasek Brasserie where you have your breakfast - a selection of international and Bruneian cuisine. Overall, the hotel is a superior tourist class hotel rather than a deluxe hotel. The staff are attentive and friendly. The food at the Tasek Brasserie is quite ordinary though and the pool is small. The hotel is located in the heart of Bandar and just opposite the Royal Regalia Museum and a 15 minute walk to Yayasan Complex.
Nice Sheraton
by kokoryko about Sheraton Utama
Located at walking distance from city centre; good comfort, has a good restaurant, friendly staff. Exactly what a business visitor needs for a few days; a bit Spartan rooms, but who cares for a few days? Good breakfast and very kind staff. Allow to B Y O (bring your own (drink, of course! )) at night for dinner .
Good for business travellers

Its was nice a cozy, a good place to have a really good rest after a long day of meeting. But if you're in Brunei for holidays or need more facilities that a nice cozy room, Sheraton is a NO NO! The pool is so mini :( It has a trekking path behind the hotel, so you can talk a hide up the hill.... sadly I never found the time ....sighhh!!
The only big chain hotel in the country
by TangoTravel about Sheraton Utama
As the only Western brand hotel in Brunei you know exactly what you're going to get here. Location is good and the main downtown sites are about a 10 minute walk away. In addition, there are also some good jogging trails nearby with routes provided by the hotel. These are worth, if nothing more, a walk around expecially the track past the local waterfall. Facilities of a Western 4* standard.

No street maps?
by researcheverything
We've only got 2 days to visit. Can't find a street map anywhere so don't know which is best 'central' hotel - Sheraton Utama or Centrepoint?
Would like to take boat trip, visit night market, shop and eat out!
Where should we stay to be able to walk to most places?
Any tips much appreciated. Thanks.

yeah brunei hasnt really gone IT yet, so you wont find many road maps or other info. I would recommend centerpoint. Its in Gadong, which is busier and has more shops. It is within walking distance of the night market (eta15min). 2mins from a huge mall which is about 3 yrs old. Sheraton is closer to take a boat tour around the water village. But taxi are cheap enuf to get around from centerpoint to the water village.
any other ques lemme kno

One of the best maps of Bandar Seri Begawan city centre area is at the Lonely Planet "Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei" book. It is very difficult to find a map of the city, I face the same problem too in the past.
