Standard room in the Riviera by saracen Easy check-in, great room - I was in the standard room (bottom of the range) and was really impressed. Despite it being the basic, it was great, with a huge comfy bed, sofa, huge bathroom, all in a really big room with huge big windows. The breakfasts were limited in range but still I had no complaints. They have no gym but an arrangement with the gym across the road where you can use their excellent facilities for $3 BND, around ?1. It is also very handily located for the shops and restaurants of the town.
The room was really nice, modern, well appointed - ideal. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averageAddress: Lot 106, Jalan Sungai, Kuala Belait KA2331Phone: +673 3335252

On a hot day when I arrived at KB I wanted to check the three hotels in town. First went to Sentosa since it is the more established one. there were small rooms available for 75 bnd and the larger rooms for 90 but no upgrades since the girl at the counter was not authorized to give them nor could we contact the manager. if they had given me the larger room overlooking the town, i might have taken it. there is wifi internet and a expat chinese restaurant on the premises. in a quiet part of the city, but no particular charm. I am glad i did not stay here. Just facing the river and the wilderness beyond is this newer hotel. When I entered the girl at the counter, covered from head to toe, couldnt even discuss a discount. she just pointed out to the printed sheet of rack rates. 1125 bnd was the cheapest room I wanted to see the rooms but lost interest in the lacklustre perfomance and hospitality. there is an outdoor dining area by the river with a host of eating places, somewhat pretentious, when you see a tamoul wearing a chef's hat and making Thosays... This was the last of the three hotels I checked out in KB, before deciding. The dour filipina at the recepton didnt add much to the ambience but when the local Malay came in and volunteered to show me the rooms, I went along with it. She showed me rooms on the 6th floor of this tallest building in KB.. one view towards the river and another one, the one i eventually took, with a view of the ocean. I decided to stay here, influenced by the friendliness of the Bruneian Malay office worker, Nurul. Large enough rooms, good and cold air conditioning which is a necessity to escape the relentless heat and humidity, breakfast included in the price (even if it were not, breakfasts can be had for one euro..)
Central. Hotel is only five years old. Good views of the city and to the sea. the price is higher than one finds in the capital, mainly because this is a company town and there are many many foreign workers here, including the largest collection of europeans who work for the Brunei Oil Company.
