Tharabargate Hotel
I can't tell whether this hotel is better or worse than other 4* hotels in Bagan, but I'd heartedly recommend this one for many reasons.
The room is very quiet and huge. Rooms are not located in a building but in small cottages (two rooms per cottage) with their own private veranda. When we come back after a tour in the valley we also found flowers on our bed arranged to form a heart (my girl-friend almost fainted with joy).
Location is great, right in the middle of Old Bagan and just few meters from the Ananda Paya. You fell like you could stretch out your hand and touch one of the many pagodas nearby. Hotel is also next to a good and valuable chinese restaurant (Sharaba). Try to eat there and have a walk in the evenenig to see the lit up pagodas, you'll never forget it!
Pool is lovely and in a beautiful setting.
Nice lobby too.
