Although Mandalay Hill Resort (the former Novotel until 2001) is a very large building, its interior and facilities do not live up to one`s expectations of an international ****-Hotel.
The hotel lies at the foot of Mandalay hill with a panoramic view of a myriad of pagodas. It also faces the distinctive architecture of the royal palace, of which the dazzling interior reveals spectacular sculpture.Its rooms are standard size but comfortable;bathroom areas are smaller than average and so are the bathroom-amenities.
Food, especially its breakfast-buffet are good; yet management should try to refurbish services and rooms somewhat, as the hotel seems a bit rundown.
Unique Quality: Most outstanding qualities are the hotels good position at the foot of Mandaly Hill and, above all, its nice tropical park and superior pool!

Mandalay Hill Resort is situated within easy reach of many ancient monuments and historical sights.
There is a show " Dance from Dynasties", representing
1.000 years of History through dances, music & fashion,from the Bagan Dynasty to present.
The show runs 3 times a week in the impressively illuminated tropical park of the Mandalay Hill Resort.
During the show Dinner and drinks are served. It`s abolutely worth the money and costs about
USD 25,-, dinner included
One of Mandalay´s best kept secrets (i was the only visitor when i visited the temple), this interesting pagoda were used for a long time as a shelter for homeless and was completely deserted and covered with dust and debris; a monk decided to change that and showed to one of the chiefs of the Mandalay Hill Resort who appreciated the potencial of the Paya and help in the restoration in 2006. A beautiful building with walls and colums decorated with intrincate golden carvings, it has one of the most beautiful Buddha statue i´ve ever seen.
Most outstanding qualities are the hotels good position at the foot of Mandaly Hill and, above all, its nice tropical park and superior pool!
