Splendid
I highly recommend the Hupin Hotel Nyaung Shwe. The hotel is conveniently located and run very smoothly and efficiently. Staff very friendly and treated me like family. Good service, price, especially for boat and car rental as well as transit to airport in Heho. Food excellent as well as service. Will return in the future.
Unique Quality: I rented a suite on the top floor. No view of lake but of village and mountains in the distance. Lovely!

Charming choice
This hotel is situated in front of a canal, in the heart of Nyaung Shwe town. It is a new one as it was listed in my LP guide, combining the best of traditional Myanmar architectural style with all modern conveniences. It is a true luxury for a price of 30$ (though breakfast was typical european). What was great fun was that the personnel was numerous and young and readily available for every wish you have.
Only cons are that it is a bit away from the jetty and it is pricey to make phonecalls from there (but a walking distance to the market). Apart from that it is strongly recommended.
Now if you're more romantic and you plan to spend more, then choose any resort WITHIN the lake. They looked very nice from afar though you feel a bit isolated in your bungalow.
