we were very lucky as we went in july, the low season.. so, when we checked in to paramount, we were given an upgrade to the bangalows (usd45) on the water for the usd30 that we paid.. :) we had one a great stay here.. definitely a must.. :) the staff here is very nice, attentive and friendly.. by the time we left, we knew most of their names! one guy accompanied us on our boat trip for the whole day and refused any tips from us at the end of the day.. the rooms are fantastic.. with a view of life on the lake passing by.. food in the resort is delicious and reasonably priced.. really nothing to complain.. perfect place to just kick back and relax.. :)

Hi,
No doubt, the best place is Shan Land ( along the canal). It's in Nyaungshwe where most of the hotels are (some 3,5 km from Inle Lake)
You can sit upstairs and have a magnificent view on the city. The very friendly waitresses speak good English and we had the Hot Steamed Fish (1500 K = almost 2 US$). Look for the picture in my Inle Lake VT-page.
It was the best meal of our Burma trip.

Early Morning fisherman

We got up very early and met our boat at 6 am and headed down the canal. There was quite a bit of activity at that time of day. Field workers heading to the fields and the fisherman where already on the water.

Gathering the weeds

I saw alot of people gathering the weeds from the canal and lake. I thought they were just cleaning up but I was told the the lake weeds make great fertilizer. And some of the weeds are used to make the floating gardens which you can read about in another chapter.

Seda Silk

Visitas todo el proceso de fabricacion de la seda desde que hilan el hilo hasta que hacen el tejido en el telar y por supuesto hasta que tratan de vendertelo.Pero tenemos que decir que no insisten en la venta aunque realmente tienen cosas muy bonitas y a muy buen precio
Es curioso el tejido que hacen con los lotos del lago que multiplica el precio de la seda

You visit all the silk manufacturing process from making the thread up to weaving the silk in the loom and of course of up to the moment that they try to sell it to you. But we must say that they don´t insist on the sell, though they really have very nice things and with a good price
It is interesting the fabric made with the lake lotus that multiplies the silk price

This is a hidden treasure of unusual mangnificent collections of stupas. In a small area about 1 quare kilometre lies nearly 2500 Buddhists stupas alligned in a parallel rows closely packed together in ranks.

We hired a taxi there and it's one whole day trip from Inle lake.
The road going there is not very good but very scenic.
