Dusit on the Lake

We had no accommodation booked in Yangon, and then found that more than 24 hours is required for making an online booking. So, ended up having the staff at our Bangkok hotel (the Grand China Princess) book this hotel - one of their own group.

The location is really beautiful, on Lake Inya - as you can see in my main picture. A morning walk around the lake was quite lovely.

The hotel itself was **** comfortable, and excellent by Myanma standards. The location is across from a military compound, and our entry, whereupon the taxi was forced to stop, to enable a mirror scan of the undercarriage of the car, was a bit of an early eye opener! However, the hotel was a pleasant oasis - about 10 minutes (depending on the vintage of your taxi) from Yangon city.

The hotel had a complimentary bus TO Yangon, leaving in the morning. The taxi fare home was a fixed US$8 from Yangon.

The hotel restuarant had pleasant food all day - and the breakfast was included in the rate. Breakfast was both Western and Myanma fare - and delicious - with lake views! The traditional Myanma breakfast soup was a particular favourite.

Our room was clean, well serviced and had more views of the lake and gardens. A beautiful swimming pool was available for cooling off at the end of a long, hot and dusty day in the city.

Unique Quality: Location superb - and the distance from the city was actually good, for the quiet and retreat of it all.

This hotel actually had some internet facilities - which is not at all common in Myanmar. The service was very limited, however.

A real park-hotel

Set in 37 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds of Inya Lake, Dusit Inya Lake Resort is suitable for business and leisure travellers alike. 15 minutes from the international airport and 10 minutes drive to Yangon's central business district and a number of Yangon attractions such as the Shwedagon Pagoda and the National Museum, it offers a high *****-level of hotel accommodation.
Excellent service, nice and large rooms, good restaurants and cafes offer anything needed for recreation and business alike.

Unique Quality: Situated in a nice park by the lake, the traffic-sounds of the near highway are efficiently muted.
The daily dinner in buffet-style is excellent, drinks rather expensive

by travelagent4thailand about Inya Lake Hotel

Built by the Russians a few decades ago.

The structure is strong with high ceilings. Bestowed right on the Inya Lake, the hotel has a big lush tropical garden.

Hotel is managed by the Renaissance Hotel Group and is a 5 star property. The Suite is definitely recommended.

I am not doing an ad for the hotel here...haha.

But if you like quality and privilege, it is here. russian architect, myanmar hospitality, international management, tennis courts, etc.

I can speak for the sites I stayed:
Renaissance Inya Lake Hotel/Yangon. (4star)- a bit far from the city but does not matter as taxis are cheap. Very relaxing, located in front of a lake.
Bagan (3star).-Nice location in front of the river. Large bungalows. OK.
Sedona (4star)/Mandalay.- excellent location in front of the Mandalay Hills and the Royal Palace. Excellent.
Conqueror Hotel/Pindaya (2star). Bungalows with nice view over the caves and the mountains. The bungalows are nothing special but the people from the hotel are really friendly and extremely nice. We just spent the night teaching them Spanish!
Inle Princess/Inle Lake (3star). You reach the hotel by boat. Is as relaxing with the view over the lake as being in the paradise. The hotel trys to give you all comfort as possible in spite of the mosquitos. It is an exciting experience!
For picture and more info I would suggest you http://www.myanmartourex.com/ where you can find a very good description of most hotels of Myanmar.
Also I am very happy with the guides and the travel agency that organized my trip from Bangkok. For more details:

Dine in style

by steve21 about Inya Lake Hotel, Yangon

If you are in Yangon on a Sunday, you should try the international brunch buffet here from 12.30 - till about 2.30pm
The selection is enormous, just eat as much as you like.
They also offer a free glass of champagne on arrival. You are offered more, but each extra glass costs about $5.
They used to do free juices too, but when I was there you had to order it seperately (& pay) :(
It costs about $14.

In case you're wondering, no I'm not on commission. I used to go there, and it's worth a visit. As a vegetarian, I go for the salads, the cheeses, the thai food, the pasta, and the deserts.
Yes, all of them!!
Just try a bit of everything.
