Panorama Hotel

Slightly worn, but centrally located

Myanmar poses a dilemma to choose Hotels, there are the well known ones and lesser known ones, the expat types and also the local ones, which one is told to avoid even by the Burmese! This time our good friend Kyaw suggested that Central Hotel has become rather seedy so this hotel might do for a one night stay in Yangon. Nothing special, this hotel at the centre of Yangon downtown.. views over the mossy rooftops of buildings from the british era.

Unique Quality: The breakfast was above expected range for the price of the hotel. quite satisfactory with nice coffee..While at breakfast, with its motely crew of foreigners, asian businessmen of different hues, tired western middle aged ones, a tall tamoul looking gent approached and told me : you remind me of someone or other and we had a nice chat..
he is a Dato someone or other from KL

It is always good to stay at Hotels and not guest houses in Burma. almost all the hotels are now under private ownership, gone are the days of govt ownership

Book it through Mr Kyaw and you would get the hotels for slightly more than the price of guest houses.
