Old Colonial Luxury

The hotel was very well maintained, and all the staff were excellant. There were antiques everywhere but at no time did you think they were not to be touched, they were there to be used and enjoyed. The restaurants were of a high standard. The cost was very reasonable for an hotel of this standard.

Very colonial !

If you want a rather small, individualistic not too modern hotel in the center of Yangon five minutes from the Shwedagon-Pagoda and if you like the somewhat oldfashioned, colonial style, than the Savoy is the right place for you.
The hotel offers nice and convenient rooms, all the special amenities one can expect from a 4-5 star hotel and overaverage friendly staff!
(the bellman brought my forgotten briefcase to the airport with his own car within 15 minutes)
Nice "Kipling" -restaurant and a fine "Captains"-. bar, crowded by expatriates during happy hours from 5-7pm. The Austrian management does its best to make your stay easy and convenient.
Kitchen is great, although the choice of the daily menu leaves some ideas to be desired (main course did not change, at least not in the 5 days of my stay)
Something, one has to get accustomed to, is the threatening looking, black-marbled outdoor pool

Unique Quality: Convenient, personal, small and colonial - your individual choice for a not too-touristic stay

Savoy Hotel - Rangoon's only boutique hotel

Savoy Hotel is a 30 room hotel in Rangoon. The rooms are spacious and opens to a view of either the pool or the verandah. The design and feel of the hotel is very colonial, wooden floors and banisters etc. They have Burmese art pieces tastefully decorating their lobby. Service is warm and friendly. We were even given a cheerful welcome by Mattias, the Executive Chef , who just finished slaving over his stove in the Kipling Restaurant.

Amenities include: airconditoning, minibar, hairdryer, complimentary bottled water, basic toiletries such as soap, shampoo, bathfoam, cotton and buds.

I would recommend this lovely hotel to anyone who doesnt want to stay in those big 300 room tourist hotels.

More about Savoy Hotel Yangon

First Class Accomodation

by gabriellefox about Savoy Hotel - Yangon

We had afternoon tea here. It was amazing. One of the 'Small Luxury Hotels of the World', the Savoy Hotel is situated within walking distance of the Shwedagon Pagoda. The 30 rooms are air- conditioned and decorated in colonial style with wood and rattan. Cafe Yangon serves traditional British afternoon tea, Kipling's Restaurant is a mixture of east and west and the Captain's Bar is set by the palm-fringed pool. As you would expect from any member of this hotel group, the service is first class.
